If you read this book and if you have been meditating regularly everyday, then this book will definitely make a difference. This is a trouble shooting book of meditation and also a course correction book. This is a must read book for meditators. I have read so many meditation books in the past 15yrs and I have been groping in the dark trying to find out where I am going wrong and this books clearly explains all the troubles and difficulties one goes through. As the author says most of the problem is in the basics of posture, breathing, focus etc. This book is amazing (believe me, I am not exaggerating) in that as I corrected my posture and technique (he has described all the available meditation technique that is their in the world) I am experiencing the effect of the changes. This author is very practical and rips off all the spiritual superstitions , religious fanaticism and sycophancy associated with meditation. Well, if you are meditating then it doesn't matter which 'ism' you belong to. A very powerful book. I am a dental surgeon, just like how a surgical procedure is explained with emphasis on each and every step , the precaution , the post surgical care and complication and how to master the procedure. This book explains each and every step of all the types of meditations. A book of this calibre cannot be written without first hand experience. This book is an oasis for all the hardcore meditators. This book is underpriced , I feel. It's worth millions. They should have charged atleast 5000 rupees. Maybe it's the authors generosity that each and everyone should benefit from the book. I did attend his meditation retreat on dec 2016 in Bangalore after reading this book. This author is not an ordinary monk, I could feel the divine energy manifest in him. He's mystical and even his humors are transcendental and elevating. After meeting him, I could correlate how a Jesus, a Buddha , a Rama, a Krishna , a Sri Ramakrishna , a Prophet, a Vivekananda would have walked this earth in their lifetime. By seeing him you can bring all the divine personalities alive if you have read about them sincerely. Seriously, buy his books read them , reread them again and again. Then go and meet him. Your life will have a paradigm shift in your outlook and perception. I have already read two of his books twice. Go catch a glimpse of this divine soul and bask in the divine fountain flowing through his words and actions before he packs his bags to enter into the transcendental realm. I pray that he stays among us atleast as long as the Buddha lived. Very few people visit this planet with no expectations and desire, with no need to gain anything but to give everything as much as possible to everyone. This author is one among them. Believe it or not, the author Review: Holy Grail of Meditation - When I started practicing meditation a few years ago, the first question I had was, "did I experience a blissful state or a nice sleep?!". Since then I was trying to read various books and forums to find insights on meditation and this particular book is "one of the best books" that I had read about Meditation. What are the great things about this book? 1. Its a practical knowledge passed through the book, not just theory 2. It is easy to understand for a modern / contemporary audience 3. It is ACTIONABLE. Lot of clear step by step instructions, starting from sitting posture, duration etc. (the real differentiators) 4. Lots of insights into various aspects of meditation and obstacles one can encounter and how to overcome them 5. Great sense of humor and references I was one of the first purchasers of this book and thought I would finish reading quickly and write the review. But it is such a dense book in terms of content (in just 300+ pages) and took its own sweet time to complete. If you are into meditation or serious about practicing meditation sometime in future, this is one of the best books you can ever read. After reading this book, I was able to find what was going wrong in my meditation sessions and started to improve the quality of my meditation (I am a beginner). Further, if you want a great inspiration to practice meditation, check about the Author. I also highly recommend two other books from same Author - 1. If Truth Be Told: A Monk's Memoir 2. Kundalini: An untold story (especially if you are into Hindu philosophy)

Holy Grail of Meditation
When I started practicing meditation a few years ago, the first question I had was, "did I experience a blissful state or a nice sleep?!". Gold Standard in the subject; but there is a caveat
This book is Gold Standard. Written in the most engaging language and with nice short stories that introduce the chapters, it brings forth a very serious topic in an extremely simplified format for the mass to understand. The chapters are small, barely four pages each, and that makes it a light reading. The knowledge shared is profound, like I said, I found this to be of Gold Standard in terms of content. Now, let me come to the practicality of this book. Anything that is a gold standard, implies it captures the best practices, and when it comes to the best practices for a subject like meditation, well, they are extremely difficult to achieve and needs considerable investment to realize even partly. The same holds true for this book also. The steps and the methods shared in this book are the BEST practices to meditate to discover bliss. But I did not find them very suitable for me, and when I say me, I mean for urban people, who holds a demanding, salaried job and is dependent on the salary for maintaining their family. The kind of investment this book calls for, in terms of the time to be spent in practicing meditation, I found it hard to achieve. The stringent qualifications for being able to even say that I have been meditating, I did not find that I have the infrastructure (the quietness, the undisturbed environment, the cell-phone free ambience and many others). Thus for someone to get the best output from this book, it needs a really dedicated student who is willing to put this above everything else in life, and which is why I mentioned that I found it difficult to implement in my real life. The lessons are valuable and I am trying to inculcate the practices in my life, but the scale is really high. Having said that, this is a very valuable book and for a sincere practitioner, this is a gold mine.

What a wonderful book on thoughts and Meditation! Thoughts are the integral and the biggest part of what, who, and how we are. And yet, we seldom think about our thoughts that why we have thoughts in the first place? What we can do with our thoughts, about our thoughts and what's the purpose of having them? Thoughts make us and/or break us. To know the power of thoughts and futility of thoughts both are equally important. This book helps understand ourselves better. I've never read something like this before, so new and refreshing knowledge! Meditation is the word which has become the talk of the world these days. And we can see many so called experts throw this word easily around to make their point. I'm into meditation for last 18 years, and did many yoga and meditation course. However, I learned for the first time, through this book, that Meditation is much more than five minute feel good exercise. In fact, the true meditation is not an enjoyable experience and requires lot of sustained effort, dedication and discipline to tread this path if we want to expeirnce the world of meditation which can be the most beautiful and rewarding experience in itself. This is the ultimate guide, and the must guide for those who wants to explore the true path of Meditation to experience our existence which is a way more than what we currently understand and accept. There is so much fluff in the market about meditation, that is truly intimidating and misleading. Rather wasting, many precious years doing the wrong practice of meditation consistently, it is much more wise to invest 4 hours to read this book and acquire the true knowledge before going further on the path of meditation. Om Swami, is a gift to this world, who doesn't preach but demonstrates the knowledge through self-experiments that prbably very few will dare to replicate in their lives. He's been there in deep woods of Himalaya and indulged in intense meditation for months. Walk the talk is more powerful than walk the walk, and that's exactly Om Swami does in this book by giving step-by-step guideline on how to proceed on the path of true Meditation. I wish, all Modern Meditation Gurus and speakers, read this book, endorse it and help spread the right knowledge in the world about Meditation. This ultimate guide on Meditation is must for your library.

"Complete"....that's reviewing this book in one word. If you are a serious student of meditation and just not a casual reader, then you would know that it's a rather misunderstood and frequently mis-explained concept. More often than not, its taught furthering certain ideologies or beliefs. This book allows you to look at meditation objectively and also see what goes under the bonnet. I think to some one who is not a practitioner, the benefits will come more if they resolve to dive deeper. But then meditation shouldn't be a casual subject anyway. I had the honour of meeting the author once and upon meeting, I said that I wanted to see him as I considered him a "Professor of Meditation".......this book vindicates this title! I truly enjoyed reading this book. It focuses on how meditation can help us uncover the fundamental questions that we keep buried in our minds, with no answers. What is suffering? How can we channel the tendencies of the mind, or the thoughts we've been carrying with us for a lifetime? When we are bothered by a lingering thought, how can we set them free and truly express who we are without concealing our emotions and expectations? This book definitely helps to discover ourselves through meditation. It details how to meditate, what is considered a helpful meditation session, and constructive practices to help one find a place and purpose. The author seems to have a vast understanding in many subjects and this is seen through his examples mentioned in the book. His subtle sense of humor, down to earth commentary, and constructive logic really help to understand meditation. He shares his meditation experiences in the Himalayas in the book and how certain techniques can help change our views on human life. Om Swami stresses that meditation is a supplement to physical and mental exercise. His detailing of certain virtues attained as a meditator makes the book supportive and encouraging. He does mention that meditation will come with its set of obstacles and by Yogic practices one can better meditate. The part I found most intriguing was his emphasis on self awareness and how we should journal our path to better meditation. Since practicing this, I found that following Om Swami’s advice makes me go deeper in my heart to find true answers and peace for myself. This sort of introspection along with meditation is the main idea that I took away from this book. Overall, I can say that this book is very helpful for those looking for inner peace. The topics covered, the examples Om Swami has given, and the lessons to be learned from it are truly fundamental for peace.
