Great book for anyone who wants to learn at a high level about electronic components, and schematics. Easy to read, not meant to be a college text, but is precise and to the point. Handy reference.

I love this book. It’s clear defines it subject well and answered some of the more complex and esoteric questions that I had regarding schematics that were not easily answered by Google as well as providing a good guide to the symbols and their variations.

The book is physically like a spiral notebook. Not very sturdy. The content is great, though!

It is a good book for beginning to read electronic schematics. It does not cover advanced circuits like motor control circuits or wiring home or commercial wiring

Reading schematics is a beginner's guide and is titled as such. The books offer's very good information for those who haven’t a clue about schematics or electronic symbols. After reading this book from front to back, one should have a very decent grasp on visually tracing circuits through a schematic. Being this book is designed for beginners, it should be used as a steppingstone and not mistaken for an encyclopedia on “everything schematics”. I have read through a few negative reviews, and I am baffled by many of the complaints. If you need specifics, such as tracing relay logic circuits, then one would be advised to do their homework and locate the specific material they require. This is a beginner's guide and doesn't hide that fact. Once you have grasped the information offered in this book, any novice would be more than comfortable picking up a more comprehensive book dealing with the subject, or perhaps taking a class geared at electronics. This is a very good jumping off point.

As someone who already holds a degree in electrical engineering, I enjoy purchasing these books to help me better understand how to explain the material to entry-level students. I think this book serves as a great and truly entry-level read for someone who is almost completely new to reading schematics. However, I anticipate beginner confusion with the introduction of transformers and their use in both simple and complex schematics. The authors’ two-paragraph introduction to transformers only describes their schematic symbol and does not provide a brief description of their function before they are used in diagrams many times. Despite the potential confusion, I still believe this book is worth reading for anyone interested in embarking on a journey of understanding electronics.
