Top shelf product
This review is based on what I've seen and heard in the 2 days I've had them. First, they came well packed, but nothing fancy. Build quality is excellent overall. I like the fact that the cables are interchangeable with other mmcx cables, and not the 2 prong kind. Right out of the box, these fit my ears perfectly with the pre-attached eartips, but also included other size tips if necessary. Of course the most important thing with earbuds is the sound and comfort. These do not disappoint. Sound is on the level of my audio technica ath m50x studio headphones. The perfect fit also kept most outside noises to a minimum, and ensured me a great range of sound. No issues with comfort either. So I highly recommend. I'm not sure how they will hold up, but, so far, I'm very happy with the final e4000 earbuds.

Great headphones that work best for me over-ear
I use a Schiit DAC/amp with my laptop and these headphones work brilliantly with it (they do work best when you use a headphone amp, by the way). The fit is good and the sound they produce is full and clear, with an excellent balance of lows, mids, and highs - leaning slightly warm, I think. The only negative for me is that, because I have slightly smaller than average ears, the earpieces stick out a little. That causes the cord to pull the earpieces downwards and press against the top of my ear canal. So my ears used to get sore after using these headphones for a while. That was super easy to fix using the supplied rubber ear hooks. When I use those soft, comfortable hooks to wear these headphones over-ear they fit well and sit comfortable in my ears for hours on end. Your mileage may vary, of course. But, if you do have smaller ears, try the ear hooks. Overall these are the best sounding headphones I've bought in a couple of years and would recommend them highly to anyone with a DAC/amp looking to upgrade their sound.

Didn't last one year
The sound from these is AWEsome. But I babied them: I bought a Shure cable (the one with the earpieces is not durable); always kept them in a hard shell glass case, I was very, very careful with them. And one earpiece failed after one year. I used them about twice a week. Needless to say, I will not purchase them again. Oh yes, and when I tried to register my product with the manufacturer, the website gave me the message "Testing 123..This page is used to test the proper operation of the Apache HTTP server after it has been installed. If you can read this page it means that this site is working properly." Uh huh. But it didn't lead me back to the company website, and I received no confirmation by email. So I presume there is a one year warranty, but I can't do anything about it. Anyway, for this kinda of money, I don't expect failure after one year. But the sound is awesome, as long as it lasts.

Great sound, Bad Cable Noise and Fit
Bought these headphones because of the stellar review on wirecutters. However, I could not use them for more than a day and went back to my old Bose IE2. By itself, the sound of the E4000 is clearly superior. Listening to a Metallica song on these is sublime. However, not all is about sound quality as I found out. There are 2 huge downsides: 1) Cable noise. It's really, really bad. making even the slightest movement causes the cable to rub on something, and it gets magnified and sent straight to my ear canal. 2) Fit. It's just not good. I imagine they've made some design tradeoffs here, but my old Bose IE2 fits perfectly, and I find myself wearing them all day long. Sometimes I don't even have music playing - there is just the right amount of sound isolation from the outside world, and they're superbly comfortable. The E4000 are not any of that. They stick out in a weird way, and always want to fall out. Definitely uncomfortable for extended use. And paired up with the constant cable noise, you can only wear these headphones when you are planning to be absolutely still. Some other pros/cons: I love the detachable cable. I wish they made these in white or silver color. Overall, they did not work for me. Unfortunately Bose does not make the IE2 any more either, so the search continues...

Best in price range I've tried
I was looking for a replacement for my prior pair of IEM's: hifiman re600s v2 songbird, which sounded very musical (albeit definitely not a flat response curve) but had flaws in the construction which lead to the lack of durability. After a lot of researching and multiple blindfold tests I found these Final Audio E4000's to be exactly what I was looking for. They provide clarity across the frequency range and have a bit of bump on the low end though definitely not overstated. The sound-stage is encompassing (as it should be with IEM's imo) which makes these sound great for just about any genre of music. With the Comply rounded foam tips I get a great seal and it blocks out the majority of the intrusive sounds that busy NYC throws my way. Highly recommend!

AWFUL DURABILITY
Short version: The problem is any drop of a liquid will damage one of the earbuds and permanently lower the particular buds volume. The sound quality is overall pretty good BUT I have had many cheaper earbuds under $30 that are louder than these. I ran into the same issue as another person who bought these. These earbuds will last IF you do not get any liquid near them. So good luck cleaning them. I've owned over 40 plus pair of earbuds, headphones, earphones in a span of 10 years and these are the only pair that were incapable of being cleaned without issues. The first pair the right earbud became low after a ridiculously small amount of water made its way inside the earbud. I emailed the company and they Shipped me a brand new pair for free. I just cleaned this new pair and surprise the right earbud gets significantly low. Luckily I had the other good earbud from the first pair I bought so I had to switch it. I do like these earbuds but the fact the durability to liquids is so pathetic I can't see myself buying from this company again . Which is a shame.

I'll do a better review on these later but for now they deserve the 5 star rating. They are gorgeous and fit great. Quality materials, solid build, great custom tips. cable is quality but it's super long (which would be my only criticism. I think the general everyday listener wanting good sound with deep punchy bass will like them and audiophiles wanting a natural, detailed and open sound will like them even more. The best thing I can say when listening to these is it makes me get lost in the music. They have a unique sound which may take a few songs to get used to and you may feel they aren't detailed enough in the more revealing analytical way some earphones of this price could be (or should be). BUT the detail is there... and then some. What these earphones do though is make you appreciate the song and the artist. You'll hear your favs in a different light, you'll hear nuances and emotions that you felt only when you first heard the track. I love Queen, I know every song well after 25 years of loving the band and songs. The e4000 had me playing entire albums again start to finish. I rarely do that, I mainly go by a mixed playlist. It was a treat hearing songs like i was hearing them again for the first time. Bass -Strong and deep, well behaved. Mids - VERY natural sounding and organic. Vocals -Up front and silky Treble - Can be sparkly when needed, never fatiguing or sharp. Good detail. I love these. I have over 90 IEMS/Headphones, it's a hobby. These are up there with sets like the Dunu DN2000, another IEM that lets you get lost in the music. They're over £200. The Dunu was another set that I irst had to get used to thinking I had paid too much, but then when you actually LISTEN to them you realise how good they are. Again, my only criticism is the cable length. It's a quality cable though. I've tried custom ones and cables from other earphones but they take away that unique smooth sound. I must admit though I prefer them at home. There is some outside noise coming thru when walking around but the music still comes thru clearly. These aren't for sports either, they will fall out unless you use the hooks but I don't like them your ear (that's just me tho)

Before buying them I was reading and searching for reviews from the user expierence point. A lot was positive, some was not. My goal was - a balance with a great soundstage and neutral sound with no peaks in the treble spot..And it is 100%. Pleasantly sounding sub bass, bass is heavy but not harsh or to much boomy - it is quite smooth and not affecting a mid bass zone. Mids are transparent, real, lively. Mid highs has a warm and attractive sound with no peaks, trebles are perfect, nice and realistically clear without saturation and compression. The overall sound of this beauties is “live, realistic and very wide”. I think the main thing of the e4000 is the soundstage which is truly amazing. Listen to the “Blade runner 2049” soundtrack..oh man..it is sooo huge. Very very nice soundstage with emotional and deep sound. For the imaging - they are not on the top of the top level but it still nice, you can perfect hear all the nuances without to much analysis. I think the idea is to keep the “musicality” as the primary thing and not the analytical side. But anyway - I think they are more to the analytical side but not to the point where you hear details with to much focus on them..so it is a good balance. Overall I like them so much and they are just perfect. Some comparisons. - it is better than momentum 2 (wireless) - the soundstage is bigger and the overall frequency shape is more neutral. Momentum has a little saturation, especially on a highs - which is not so good. It is better that Hifiman re400. The soundstage is wider and overall tone is more transparent and clear. Now, for the planars - I have a SUNDARA - very famous headphones in Hifi world.. Of corse SUNDARA is on the next level and imaging, detail retrieving, the speed and the whole emotion is better on SUNDARA. However, there is two think I prefer to e4000.-it is soundstage and trebles spot. Soundstage is wider and trebles are more neutral in comparison with SUNDARA. In conclusion - it is sooo greatly balanced iems with a huge soundstage and very nice comfort. They are tryout small but has a gigantic balls)) Thans final audio!

Consigliate.

Pros: Comfortable as hell a lot of different ear tips to choose from Sounds great* Cable is detachable Uses standard ear tips Cons: Carrying case is not very good, would recommend an aftermarket one I would say these are a bit overpriced (Maybe $50) Over the ear plastic bits aren't what I expect at this price point and would have liked better cables Bass Heavy sound with muted high end* *I personally really like the sound, these would be a fine addition to add to a performer's kit as your IEM or as ONE of a set of headphones to mix on (as long as you AB others), If you're looking for a more flat sound you might want to look elsewhere such as the Sennheiser IE 40 PRO I have used the Sennheisher IE40 Pro's, Shure SE215's, Audio Technica ATH E 40 and Audio Technica ATH E 50 as IEM's for mixing stage monitors at a nightclub and out of all of those these are what I think sound the best to me and allow me to deliver the best mix.
