This was a really disappointing purchase. I bought this to link a Displayport adapter to my Surface Book 2. First try, nothing worked. The screen showed up on my display settings, but no image. Thought it might be the cable, tried a new one. Finally got some image, but it kept flickering & cutting out. Tried a third cable, back to no image at all. Ultimately tried plugging the displayport straight into another device, sans adapter, and it worked just fine with all three cables. This adapter is junk, or at least the one I received was. Can't recommend, not even for emergencies. Just doesn't work.

I don't get why Microsoft has a mini Displayport connector on the Surface Pro dock, but whatever, you will need one of these (or I guess a straight miniDP to DP cable) to hook it up to an external DP monitor. My current monitor is 1920x1200, so HDMI out works fine, but I bought this instead of the HDMI adapter to future proof, if I go to a 2560x1440 monitor, which would then require DP as HDMI maxes out at 1920x1200.

I bought this cable to use to connect my Dell 4K monitor to my IOGear GCS1932 KVM switch. I have 4K UHD signal at 3840x2160 @ 30Hz and I was noticing significant screen blinking using this cable, around once every minute or so. The blankout would only last a second, but it happened so frequently as to be very annoying. I know it wasn't the IOGear switch causing the problem because when I used a Cable Matters miniDP-to-DP cable the blankouts disappeared. So take it for it's worth, it might work fine at a lower resolution, but be aware this cable might cause frequent screen blinking/blackouts.

Works with the Surface Pro 3 where other adapters fail.
