Works - but takes time
I've been using this for about a week or so. It is a good product, I haven't had any issues with it that are not normal with using DMSO outside of it's labeled purpose. I haven't noticed any strong smell from this gel, but I do detect a bit of a chemical type scent. It hasn't bothered me or my family, so smell hasn't been a problem for me. I like the gel because it's much easier to apply than the liquid form. However, the gel does not absorb in the 20 to 30 minutes that I leave it on, so I have to wash it off. This is normal and you're not supposed to just leave it on all the time, as there's no need to. The gel doesn't need to completely absorb into the skin to help you. There are some key things you should know when using this product and other DMSO products... #1 - The place you apply it may become more sensitive and painful for a short time. Something I've noticed is that it can make the area I apply hurt more but that effect seems to stop after like 30 minutes or so. This is because it can awaken the nerves in the location and make them more sensitive temporarily. So for my sore foot, it can actually make it hurt a bit worse for a time, before it starts feeling better. From my experience, it has helped significantly in reducing and for times actually eliminating the pain in my foot. I had pain in my foot for a couple months at least, and it was bothering me often and it hurt so bad. I had trouble being on my feet just doing housework or walking around the store. Using this gel off label has helped tremendously to give me lasting relief from this pain. #2 - Do not apply it to cuts or scratches as it can sting and become itchy. I use it on my foot and knees, but applying it to other areas such as on my arms can cause a rash and a lot of irritation that takes a while to go away. #3 - If you have acute pain, it can relieve it in a short time, but if you are using it on chronic pain, it will take at least a few days to a week before it will make a bigger difference. #4 - DMSO is something that works better the more you use it. I tend to try to apply it 1 to 3 times a day. When I was hurting more, I was applying it 3 times a day, as it has started getting better, I apply it 1 to 2 times a day. From what I understand, it helps stimulate healing, but it takes time for it to actually heal. It helps bring blood to the area which promotes healing and reduces inflammation, and this can help reduce pain. #5 - It dries out the skin and can make it look wrinkly and weird, especially when the area comes in contact with water afterwards, but aloe gel helps, so I apply that after I wash the DMSO gel off. It also causes skin peeling, but these things are a small price to pay in exchange for lasting pain relief from chronic issues. #6 - Always clean the area you go to apply it with warm water and mild soap, then completely dry the area, because anything the DMSO touches can be absorbed into your body and bloodstream. #7 - This is a 70/30 strength. If you have sensitive skin and it gives you a rash, you will likely need a 50/50 strength or you need to dilute it with distilled water or maybe aloe gel or something. #8 - Be careful if you're taking medications, as there is a possibility it could increase the effect of them if you're not careful. And the last thing I want to say is... Do your research on DMSO and know what you're doing before you start using it. That's super important. Please note: I took a risk on trying this because I badly wanted relief from pain and nothing else was helping me. This is not medical advice, nor do I claim that anyone will have the same experience with this product. Anything you do with this product and the information shared in my review is your responsibility.

It works what more can I say...well, read on :-)
I have been using this product for many, many years. YES it can cause your skin to feel itchy, a little like sunburn, but in my case this quickly goes away. There is sometimes (not always) a "garlicky" taste in your mouth for a while, that also quickly goes away. This is odd stuff. Sometimes it will work beautifully and other times not so well. However, having said that, for me it does work MOST of the time. I've used it for relieving sinus headaches (almost immediate relief), the pain of arthritis in my lower back, neck and hands, it helps relieve muscle aches and pains. I sometimes forget I have it and it's a day or two before I remember to at least give it a try, but when I do remember, almost all the time the pain and discomfort is relieved. For some reason, I never knew why, it seems to work better above the waist, but it has really helped relieve the pain in my back I was suffering from an ill-advised lifting of a heavy object! I have no doubt that this won't work for everyone or that some will find it uncomfortable on their skin. But I have no problem telling friends about it and trying to get them to at least try it. I've even bought it for others and most are now believers and wouldn't think of not having this wonderful stuff in their medicine cabinets! I do find that the gel is the easiest to use. DO use with caution!! I mix NOTHING with mine as it has the ability to carry whatever is mixed with it directly through the skin and cells. There are some things I just wouldn't want within my body. I know of people who have mixed other things with it and if that works for you, I am happy for you. Myself, I just prefer to keep it simple, apply with clean hands (washing my hands well after I use it) and add nothing to the gel. I sincerely hope that this product will work for you. If I could have only a single item in my medicine cabinet for pain relief, it would most definitely be DMSO.

Bad Allergic Reaction
This is claimed to be 70% pure (i.e., 99.9 %) DMSO and 30% distilled water, with no other ingredients. It has the appearance, consistency, texture, and stickiness of extremely thick aloe gel, and I have no idea how this is possible, since DMSO is very thin, "wet," and slick. In any event, the first two times I used it (two days apart) on freshly scrubbed skin, it felt warm and itched unpleasantly, but was tolerable, and after 30 minutes, I blotted away any damp residue with no ill effects. The third time I used it on freshly scrubbed skin (two days after my second trial), I had a dramatic allergic reaction. The itching was horrific. I endured it for 30 minutes, then got in the shower and scrubbed it all away. After, I looked as if I had been badly sunburned. I literally blobbed cortisone cream all over the "burned" areas, but it took an hour and half or so for the skin to return to normal. I threw the product away. Why risk an even worse reaction by using it a fourth time? I'm allergic to a lot of things, especially foods, but I've never before experienced this level of itching/stinging/burning. Very unpleasant and scary.

Works for me.
This seems to do a pretty good job of easing inflammation. I have some joint pain on a knuckle on my left hand, and I also have some tennis elbow from an injury sustained a couple of months ago, and it has helped to ease both of those things. The only thing to be aware of is that DMSO is a solvent, and as a result it can cause some itching, and even cause minor chemical burns - just be careful with it. I've found that if I apply it and let it set for a bit, even if I wash it off when it starts to burn a bit (only on the tennis elbow - I never had that issue on my hand) it still eases symptoms.

Use this.
A good product. It is like the overpoweringly rose-scented one but can go out in public.
