Love it! Addi Egg
ADDI EGG If you watch the how to videos on YouTube, it is awesome. I love it! So easy to use. I made. A long cord in just a few minutes. It's a bit tricky. You can't let the yellow weight touch the table or floor. If you do that and cast on correctly, you won't have any issues. I am so happy I purchased it. Watch the videos on YouTube and you won't have any trouble.

Machine flaws - Read before buying!
ATTENTION! READ BEFORE BUYING! First, I want to preface this by saying that I own the Addi King and love it! This little egg however, is more the court jester. While it looks amusing it will 100% frustrate you to no end. It tangles, slips stiches and the teeth are not the quality one has come to expect from this company. While the King comes with sturdy white teeth that have a sharp lip and deep mouth, the Egg has a more rounded lip, softer edges and is made flimsy, much thinner, material. The red prongs on the egg, meant to catch and hold the stitches, have too much of a slope to them and often allow stitches to slip back and bunch. It is my belief, that if the company were to fix these issues, this product would be not only useable, but phenomenal. I will be returning my egg in hopes of finding a better solution to my I cord creation needs.

This worked as intended.
This knitter worked like it was intended to when you use the correct size yarn. I like the weight and that it has legs and was compact and good for travel. It was easy to put together and use. I found it to be of qood quality as it did not break will using it. I returned it because I thought it would do bigger yarn which it will not. It did fine with 4 worsted weight cotton . Just not a 5 weight which is what I needed. It looked bigger like it would and I saw a video that lead me to believe it would, but the yarn I wanted to use was to big, it just kept jamming up. I bought the next size up a 22 needle Addi to see if that will work. They need an in-between size of these two machines.

It takes practice to learn
It works well once you figure it out, and it makes really nice icords but theres a few things that could be improved. It can be a bit hard to thread, and having to hand tension is a bit unfortunate. Overtighten it too often, and you'll strip the gears. Using the hanging weight feels clunky, so I ended up using a weight that opened like a clothes pin. The first hook is not marked, so I ended up putting a bit of nail polish on it to mark it. The cap doesnt really serve a purpose that I can tell.

Great Knitting machine
This is a great mini knitting machine. I have used several times for stuffed animals. The size of the machine is great. It would be nice to find a way to fasten to a table or something. It gets hard to hold sometimes. It is very durable. The cover seems to be useless. But i do love the machine.

Maybe finding a different yarn
UPDATE: I originally gave 1 star after numerous tries with different weight/material of yarn. I finally found the "perfect" one that works for this. Valley Yarns Superwash Sport, Sport Weight Yarn, 100% Extra Fine Merino - Black at6 to 6.5 sts = 1" on US 3 to 5. This was finally able to knit smoothly. I still had to turn the knob slow steady, making sure to listen and feel for clogging and crunching noises (if the fibers got stuck.) The yarn is pretty soft and smooth and the twist seems tight enough for it to not be eaten by the needles or any other toothy bits from the egg. I didn't bother to use the plastic dome nor the crank--just turned the knob. Another helpful thing is to make sure your feeding yarn is loose enough--check it every now and then. The little weight will help with tension. Sometimes I do have to start all over again--it really is tricky seeing if there are any errors and then have to turn the knob backwards. OLD REVIEW: This is easy to cast on, BUT when you finally get it to crank, it makes a huge mess. I tried super thin weights that's barely yarn, but more like tinsel and I tried 2 types of yarn--one was more like a soft wool and the other was a tighter winding on the yarn. I will try some more--the other yarns I tried were relatively thin. I couldn't get that to push down into the hole like normal nancies because all of it just stayed on top. If I pulled, it would possibly rip the threading yarn connected to the egg weight. I think the key is to actually use something like string that's not made from airy twists or braid...something internally solid in the "yarn" or string. The problem is that the device will split up my yarn when it tries to bring it down and then up and over the red prongs and things. If I don't watch it, then it will bite and break and not follow the others. Somewhere it said to use a specific kind of yarn. I will try again.

IMO most bad reviews are due to user error
First of all, prices fluctuate wildly for this item on Amazon! I snagged mine for $28, two days later it was $60, then $40. So if you really, really want a deal just be very patient. I waited a year! lol Second, and most important, the reviews almost scared me out of purchasing. However, after watching 2 YouTube videos and following the instructions to the letter my first try was a success. I truly believe the bulk of the poor reviews are simply due to user error. You MUST cast on correctly and you must use the weight correctly. Once the weight gets close to the table/floor/your lap you just stop and move it back up. In doing so I made it through an entire skein of yarn with zero skipped or tucked stitches! I’ve had this for roughly a month and have had nothing but good results! This is my second Addi product. I also have the 22 pin Addi Express. I’m my opinion Addi is head and shoulders above other brands. They are worth the hefty price if you plan on using them even semi-regularly. I have 3 Sentros and a Prym, and the Addi machines take yarn that won’t make it through even one row on the others.

Not worth the price
This is terrible to use and already the pins have broken. I would not recommend this device because it is expensive and cheaply made as it has already broken.

Bij 2e gebruik moest ik het apparaat openmaken en de breinaalden er opnieuw inzetten. Toen werkte de hendel weer en bleef niet meer haken.
