Black Garlic Carolina Reaper

This has become my go-to hot sauce. It is spicy but incredibly flavorful. It goes really well on pizza, Mac and cheese, and anything that goes well with garlic.

First off, I had no idea this was featured on Hot Ones as the title suggests. I simply purchased this on a whim because I wanted to free shipping and enjoy a good hot sauce. Did not look into it any further than that. That said, holy cow does this have some heat. I was certainly not expecting it. This is one of those where I tell folks that come over, if they want to go life and death with their food, give it a shot. It's definitely not for folks that just want to spice up their food a tad. That said, I do have buddies who come over and enjoy it on their pizza and what not, so it's not a total waste for me, but I can't say I've had it much beyond my initial try with it. It's way hotter than I had expected. I'll give it a 5 star however because I didn't read into how hot it was and for some people, perhaps it's not terribly hot. You can't really punish the sauce just because you can't take it as well as others. Besides, my buddies that have it, say it does taste really good, so I trust them since they can handle it much better than me :D

Amazon's algorithm was cooking... I was looking for a replacement for another, less available hot sauce that I like (reaper/flavorful savory component/sweet component), when I was given a 50% off flash sale on this sauce... so, I bought two bottles of it. I don't regret it. This is an umami bomb with black garlic, and a little goes a long way in terms of both flavor and heat. It's intense, tends to make the face red and sweaty, but doesn't linger long. I like to put a few dashes of it in a bowl of noodles, but beware, this is a very thin sauce with no dripper insert. It's not quite as sweet as the sauce I was replacing, and there is a little maple as advertised, but the vinegar gives a sweet/sour effect.

EDIT UPDATE: Below, you'll see I did a 1 star review because of the price. $20 for a bottle was too much. Prices are lower now. But here's the thing... This stuff is GOOD! Like REALLY good. It's VERY spicy so a little goes a long way. I bought this a while ago and still have plenty left, and it's practically my go-to sauce now for spice and flavor. And it has some great flavor! At around $10-12 per bottle, I'd give it 5 stars, At $15/bottle, 4 stars. At the old $20 per bottle price, I'd still give it 3 stars. BUYER BEWARE! I ordered this as an impulse purchase. Amazon had it on my home page. Looked interesting and I love hot sauces, so I plopped it in my cart and it ended up being purchased with other items. A few days later, reviewing my items I saw this, saw that it was still 4 days away from delivery and that it was $20 for a tiny little bottle! I tried to cancel the order since it was still 4 days away but Amazon said it couldn't be cancelled. When it arrived, I tried to return it but it is NOT RETURNABLE!, even if sill sealed. The ingredients don't mention gold, platinum or diamonds, so I'm not sure why it's so expensive. I'd say $10 or $11 MAYBE. Even Truff is 25% less and you get more. COMPLETELY NOT WORTH THE VALUE and I'm disappointed that I couldn't cancel the order or return the item.

This is delicious. The black garlic adds wonderful flavor to food and the heat is no joke.

I blindly buy hot sauces on a weekly basis damn near. My fav is black widow, but this is almost better. Great umami, though I have ordered raw black garlic before and am not totally picking up on that distinct flavor. I think this leans more towards hot mexican, but that's just me. A hungover me on a taco bell run would have this in her center console.

Good heat

This product used to be both flavorful and spicy. Now it's just flavorful. They 1000% changed their recipe since I bought this last. It's vibrant and garlicky and paired well with my pizza, ham and cheese sandwiches, and chips and guacamole. All of these foods diluted the heat to the point where it didn't tickle my spicy sense like the previous bottle did. I just ate a raw spoonful before I posted this review, and I didn't sweat at all. I will be happy to consume this sauce until I've used every drop, but I won't be buying it again unless my spice tolerance takes a dive.

This is a great sauce, which has a nice savoury flavour. There is a bit of vinegar to it but definitely not overpowering. When I first tried it, the smokey maple flavour actually hit me first. The heat is quite intense, and builds rather than just immediately setting your tongue on fire - in my opinion resulting in a tingly throat heat that puts me in mind of a Scotch whisky's warmth. Uses natural ingredients so it's not an artificial heat, and works well as a condiment or mixed in with a chilli, or whatever you fancy! Would definitely buy again! Don't use whilst drinking beer though - found that out the hard way.

This is quite possibly my fave hot sauce. Have been wanting to get some for quite a while (A fan of Hot Ones show) and it popped up on my Amazon front page. BUY IT NOW was pressed in an instant. Package arrived well protected the next day (GJ Amazon) Immediately upon opening the bottle you get a strong smell of garlic, but also a smell of vinegar (this got me worried, hate that taste in hot sauces) Thankfully upon grabbing a tea spoon full of this and giving it a taste test I was very happy. That vinegar smell thankfully didnt take over in the taste test but damn did the garlic and chilli. Very strong garlic taste and slow burning on the heat that certainly creeps up on you. I wouldnt say its the hottest sauce ive ever had, far from it infact. Though it certainly packs a punch and most importantly it tastes GREAT. Will certainly be buying again.

Great product, nice garlic taste. Not too much burn just enough to make you huff a little! 10/10 recommend for spice lovers but not for dragons that just make it inedible spicy.

This sauce has an excellent heat and excellent flavour without being searingly hot, so it can be splashed onto a dish without OTT heat… well, I did… My only minor criticism of it, is that it could benefit from being a little less runny, but that is just something I think would make it even better.. it is a lovely spicy sauce 🌶️
