Much Nicer Than Expected!
I really love the style of this lighter, but I had many qualms about whether they could produce a quality, retro lighter at such a great price. All my misgivings were put to bed when I opened the box. This is a quality piece! The machine work is great, and the fitment is superb. It has a nice weight to it, and has a VERY handy pipe tamper tucked in the bottom of the lighter. My only "negative" comment? This is a retro lighter. If you leave the arm up, it will empty the butane chamber. Or if you play with it a lot because you like it. Or if you just really like lighting it up, over an over. So, yes, that is NOT a fault of the lighter, but of the man using it! Seriously, if you or a friend enjoy classic films from the Golden Age of Hollywood, you have seen this lighter and will love this lighter. Simply put: It beckons from another era whispering "Class"

Good knock-off, good value
For a fraction of the price of a high-end pipe lighter brand, this is a very nice reproduction. The weight is good, it looks good. The tamper took me a few seconds to figure out -- you have to rotate it 180 degrees to remove. You don't have to worry about losing it from it falling out. It fits tightly. Tamper has small slotted screwdriver to adjust flame (I wish my other butane lighters had this). That screwdriver also serves as a pipe pick. Filling went okay, the fit is a bit tight. I twisted the can back and forth slightly to improve fit and reduce leakage during filling. This lighter puts out butane as soon as the arm is lifted. If you don't flick the striker wheel immediately, you're spewing butane everywhere. Be conscious of that. I feel like this design works better left-handed, otherwise you're flipping the lighter back and forth.

Good…when it works
Lighter dies after a month or so, no matter what kind of fuel I use or if I purge or not. When it works, it works well. Frustrated & tired of wasting money.

Works great but can leak
Sometimes after I fill it it loses gas within a day or two. I've noticed that if you fill it and then put your ear up to the fill valve, you can hear a slight hiss of gas escaping. To work around this, I give it a quick press from my gas bottle and check again. Usually if I try a couple of times, the noise stops because the input valve seals up. In order to prevent dirt from getting in and causing this, I've designed a 3d printed case for the lighter. You can find it on Thingiverse under "RUIXI soft flame lighter case / cover"

Looks nice, doesn't work too well.
Its a neat little lighter, it works ok for the first day or two and eventually has a lot of issues. The flame is inconsistent even when its adjusted. For instance, if I lower the fuel flow to make it smaller, the next day it might be really big again, or way too small, so adjustment is constant. It eventually stops being able to hold fuel at all and it just wastes any butane you put in it and loses it over night, making it completely useless in its most basic function. Its a pretty useless paperweight. Would be super neat if it worked more reliably. The flint striker is small so it may be difficult for some to strike it reliably, wasn't an issue for me personally though. Lastly, if this matters to anyone, it is very very sensitive to any wind, you can breathe wrong and the flame goes out.

Either I can't fill it properly, it burns really fast or it's leaking
Bought this lighter because my cheap $7 lighter from a gas station started to crap out. It arrived yesterday I filled it (or at least think i did) last night woke up and smoked my pipe this morning and the flame went out half way through. Either I didn't fill it up, it burned faster then I realized or it was leaking through out the night. I wish it had a cut out so you could easily see the butane level. Update: i dont remember when I left my last review but new review, 1-2-2026 there is a cap inside the cap that popped out and now the stem leaks any and all fuel :(

Antique looking lighter
A year or so ago, I paid over 100 bucks for another “high end” pipe lighter that looks very similar to this one. Lasted about a year and now won’t stay lit. Saw this one, considerably cheaper, so I ordered it with very low expectations. Big surprise when I got it. Appears very well made and has lasted a week of me playing with it, dropping it and flicking it off and on. I’ve read the negative reviews and maybe they got a defective one but for the money this is a slick little lighter, it’s small, easy to refill, easy to use and so far, lights every time. If this one lasts the month I’ll grab a couple to keep as back ups

Affordable compromise.
These look a lot like the $150+ lighters like from Savinelli and other brands, but at an affordable price. I know this isn't one of the fancy lighters, but its style and function are perfectly suited for the cost conscientious person needing some stylistic flame for their needs. The soft flame is my favorite for the char light on my tobacco pipes. The thumb wheel feels like it is exactly where it should be. Filling is easy with a Zippo brand fuel can. I changed the flint to Kiribi Lighter - Soft Flint to make flicking it easier. The tamper tool gets a little getting used to: figuring out how to get it to come out and stay locked for tamping or getting it to completely release and come out so you can adjust the flame with the screwdriver on the end or use it as a pick for dottle. Great for the matching style and economical for the function.
