Replacement Housing Shell Compatible for Nintendo DS Lite NDSL

The blue is ever so slightly lighter in color than the OEM cobalt blue but trust me when I say this. That's an absolute plus. Even pictures can't do this metallic blue justice. It's so gorgeous it just needs to be beheld by the naked eye. The glossy finish on the top outer frame is a fingerprint magnet, but that's on par with the OEM shell. The rest of the frame is a matte black which looks very close to stock. The assembly experience is very good. There are some minor differences in cutouts and insignificant differences in the markings on the inside of the shell but these are invisible once you have the console assembled. I have two minor complaints and that is the battery door should have the screw and c-clip pre-installed and the slit for the top display ribbon cable could be a little bit wider - it's a tighter fit than the OEM shell. There is some extra flashing on some of the buttons which can cause an issue with fitment and actuation if you don't trim it off. This is my second shell from Ostent and I've been pleased with the quality so far.

The parts all came complete and I would have ignored the poor quality screens and strange bubbling on the top of the plastic case if it wasn't for the fact that the mold was not made properly. The parts that go into the left and right of the middle hinge area stop earlier than they should and do not go in all the way. Furthermore upon attempting to put in the left piece the set it did not go into the right part of the left hinge, but instead upon applying pressure went into the right part of the right hinge (as pictured, this is not where it is supposed to end up). This appears to be the fact that the left hole expands greatly under pressure do to the crack (which was there once the part arrived). tl;dr Do not buy this cheap excuse for a molded part and look elsewhere, this one isn't going to do you any good

Overall I’m pretty happy with this shell considering the price point, but I do have some small gripes with it The overall appearance and reassembly was pretty nice, the shell although flimsy when in pieces, actually holds up decently well once it’s all put together. I also think the color, although the wrong color, is really lovely and goes well with the black buttons I reused, I also appreciate that they used the same screw size and in total, there was only 2 lengths, which made it far easier to screw it all together, it’s a decent shell if you want to do your first reshell, but I do have gripes with it The fit wasn’t perfect, and the top lid is slightly curved from the top half being a little too small, the screws, although nice that they use only two lengths, were a little too soft and the head of the screw would break if you try to tighten them down too much, it’s very squeaky, but it can be easily fixed if you apply a bit of lubricant, the buttons and triggers were so badly made that I had to reuse the old buttons and triggers, I would recommend that if you go with this shell, I do worry that the paint will scratch off, as it’s painted on rather than being made out of a colored plastic, the scratch resistance may not be great. The screw covers especially on the top are super off color, that it honestly makes it look so much cheaper Overall it’s a functional shell that although a little cheap feeling, gets the job done. I think it’s perfect if you want to learn how to do a reshell and if you want a stock color, which ExtremeRate doesn’t offer sadly. If I had to provide advice, keep a hold of your old shell, get a color that matches your old shell or stick with the ones that are all black or white or with a black accent, as the colored screw covers are not very accurate to the shell, I also recommend transferring over the metal plate that’s near the GBA slot and the stylus holder, as the stock one is a little too tight and can scratch up the stylus. If you want a quick cheap way to do a reshell than this might be good enough for you, but for someone else of if you want a shell that’s more durable and less likely to scratch, go for a ExtremeRate shell

This is a great replacement shell for a DS lite and I was happy with how it turned out. The old shell was broken and had a lot of wear and tear and it practically looks like a brand new DS now

I purchased this replacement shell to make a NDSL unique and look better. I have ordered a couple other cases from other companies and the quality of the material and fitment is subpar. This case arrived in a similar white cardboard sleeve. Upon opening, the case is moch assembled and wrapped in plastic. I dumped out the hardware and inspected the shells, as the others where pretty messy on the insides, with many sharp edges, blistering, and just overall poor quality. This case looked fairly clean. I began my assembly of the already-disassembled NDSL I had. I noticed that the top screen inside plate was fairly clean, but, fit the components pretty loosely. I decided to check the fit of the motherboard and bottom screen and found the same thing. I decided to use only the outer shells as the insides were too loose for fitment. Overall, the case is better than the others I have ordered, but, I was missing some hardware as well, like the small metal bolt that hold down the battery compartment screw, a couple of the motherboard screws were different sizes and colors. Better than the beat up case it came in, and somewhat better than the other cheap ones

Be careful removing the upper screen.

It has all the pieces and their cality is good for the price, but it doesn't completely fit and you have to use a lot of strenght to put the screws on. I would recommend to try and fix the original before you change the housing shell.
