Rich Dad Poor Dad by Kiyosaki, Robert T 2nd (second) Edition (2011) Review: love the kindle edition - a friend of mine originally loaned me his paperback edition of this book. i read it cover to cover and it completely changed the way i think. i read a lot. i'm 20 years old and i have been reading non-fiction books since i can remember. i started reading stephen king at the age of 11. in short, i am a damn good reader and i finish books really fast. i often then don't bother to reread the same title. this book is the exception. i bought it for my kindle fire and within the first thirty minutes i read 13% of it. oh yes. the kindle edition shows you how much you have completed in terms of percentage. it's also a lot easier than reading the actual paperback edition. i don't have to turn pages, it won't wear down with age, and i can look up a word just by holding my finger down over the term i am unfamiliar with. it's also really easy to read. kiyosaki expresses all of his points with clarity in a conversation style of writing. i tried reading other books like "on the postcolony" by mbembe and his way of writing is very hard to comprehend. this is not like that all. if you are confused with what you want to invest in and need clarity, this is the book for you. i live in the tempe area of arizona and i've seen the real estate market change drastically here. before i read this, i was vaguely interested in investing in real estate. now i am sold. he gives examples on ways he made a profit doing short-sales, buying property and then waiting for it to increase in value before selling it off. he also cites some of the tax laws that the rich (him) capitalize on. in short, read it if you need clarity and direction on what you want to do. if you're already self-made and wealthy (rich), then don't bother. but if you're like me and stuck in a dead-end job where you're not getting paid enough, then please give this book a shot and ignore the critics. it changed the way i view money and i'm sure it will change your views too. Review: A Good, Solid, Foundational Read on Finances - As with many books, there are an incredible amount of opinions out there concerning Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and many varying views on Kiyosaki himself. What I will say is this, read the book for yourself and determine what you feel about what he has to say. The advice in this book has been a tremendous blessing to me. It is all about your perspective, about how you view money. The practical details are in your hands, that's not necessarily Kiyosaki's job. He provides the correct perspective and helps you stop living with a poor mentality. It's then your job to take what you've learned and become financially literate with your new perspective. This is a great book. It's a simple and straight forward read and can completely change how you think about finances. Depending on where you stand, it will either challenge you, or affirm and articulate how you have already felt your whole life. Buy this book, read it, digest it, and change how you look at finances.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad...Good Book?
I ordered this book with some skepticism. I am certainly not looking for a "get rich quick" solution, nor did I hope that Kiyosaki would somehow "change my life". After coming across this author for years and reading mixed reviews, I caved in and finally downloaded the book. Now, after a quick and easy read, I can say I actually enjoyed the book and the messages Kiyosaki conveyed. Many have debated whether this is a story based on reality, or if the two dads - Kiyosaki's traditional and conservative "real dad" vs. his friend's dad who taught him a new way of thinking about wealth and entrepreneurism -were real at all. Frankly I don't care. The stories were interesting and entertaining and I feel that the intended lessons were good ones for readers of all types. If you want an enjoyable and somewhat inspirational book that shares alternative views on money, wealth and happiness woven into a pseudo-autobiography (fictional or otherwise), I'd recommend Rich Dad Poor Dad. I appreciate the author's perspective on how to change your mindset in order to grow. But if you want a get rich quick manual, you should continue helping others like Kiyosaki get rich quick by buying all their products with misguided expectations.

This book will make you believe that the American Dream is possible - financial freedom!
If you are looking for a book that will not only clarify all the misinformation that's out there about money but will also make you literally question how you view money and even what money is then this is the book for you! I thank Robert Kiyasaki for opening my eyes and countless others to the possibility for everyday Americans being able to accomplish what many call the American Dream with passive income and investments. Much more than just solid advice - it's also a blueprint to get you there as well. He explains how we as a society have begun to view all debt as bad. He explains though that there is bad debt which is in the form of personal debt such as credit card debt, student loans, car loans, even your personal mortgage (which he explains that you're house is not actually an asset but a liability). There is however good debt which is used as a vehicle to purchase assets (which he defines simply as something that puts money in your pocket). He further explains that a life in pursuit of obtaining assets (instead of liabilities) will lead to financial security and the best kind of income - passive! Don't pass up his book if you're looking for financial life change!

This book will tech you the principles of building wealth, which are also the principles for living a good life. I enjoyed reading it because most of the teachings came in a story form. If you want to live a better life, take action now and start here!

Good advice to get out of the rat race. Maybe this is just an introduction but it gets the mind ready for action.

Before reading this book, I had zero knowledge about money. The book presents great ideas that anyone can start applying right away.

This book is so easy to read, and it really made the "big, scary, complicated financial world" make sense to me. I've always thought money and "business stuff" was way too crazy-complex for me to try to understand. Not anymore! It's just going to take some time and effort to learn more about things like investing in real estate or the stock market. Definitely not a "get-rich-quick" kind of book, more like "get rich slowly over time, by being smart with where you put your money!"
