It works fine for an Orbit valve. Can't speak for all valves.
This Solenoid replaced a dead one off an old Orbit valve. So far, its been perfect. The other good part is that it only costs $11. I would buy this again.

Take out the old O washer
Interesting. I came in a bag with NO instructions or recommendations. Ive replaced lots of solenoids over the years and never had a problem with Orbitz until now. They dont tell you to remove the very small O ring at the bottom where you screw in the new solenoid. Works great after you've done that, not before.

Easy diagnosis and DIY replacement (Good = 60~61 Ohm)
Test your solenoid(s) directly using the Ohms selection on a multi-meter. As you can see in the attached video the Ohms climb and continue to count upwards unable to reach a steady reading which indicates this solenoid is BAD. Replacement is easy as these thread into place just like a bolt would. A bad solenoid caused my old non-wifi 12 zone sprinkler controller to literally burn past the fuse and into the power supply causing permanent unrepairable damage to the unit.

Worked perfectly after a small adjustment
I was replacing the solenoid on an older Orbit Watermaster 57101 valve and initially thought this was the wrong part. It appeared to fit, but the zone wouldn’t stop running. I noticed this solenoid doesn’t have the metal plunger like the older 57041, so I assumed compatibility was the issue. However, after some troubleshooting, I discovered there was a small rubber O-ring inside the valve body where the solenoid threads in. Once I removed that O-ring and reinstalled the new solenoid, everything worked perfectly. So if you’re using this with an older orbit valve, just check for an O-ring that you may not need.

Buy spares
These Orbit solenoids are junk. unfortunately I have a bunch of them in my yard and I'm stuck with them so I have to keep buying them. Thankfully Amazon has them and I get them the next day. these things used to last for 5 to 10 years now they barely last two.

Fixed my sticking water valves from staying on.
I have been have a bunch of Orbit water control valves stop working. And when I say stop working I mean they stay stuck in the open position. Many of these control valves have been rebuilt but still remain dysfunctional. Somebody on YouTube said that if the solenoid on the water valve has a shiny disk on top, they should be replaced by these valves that are all black. So I bought a bunch and so far no problems with the water valves sticking. Easy fix, easy installation, and cheap enough to be felt.
