If only........
If only real life were like Sudha Murty's Dollar Bahu - In reality there is no ending where elders realise their mistakes and come to appreciate their daughter's in law. It is rare to even find a father in law who is fair and just. Human nature is such that everyone believes that what they are doing is correct and moral and expect others to behave according to their value system. A person who has a different point of view is always looked upon with suspicion and mistrust. Everyone thinks they are the hero of their story and anyone who does not see eye to eye becomes the villain. It's a great book with excellent values though. It gives one hope that life might have a fair ending for them too....

Good read
Very well written and showed the reality of people's behavior. We always fail to appreciate what we have and by the time we realize everything will go out of our hands. Thank you mam for writing such a realistic story.

"Sudha Murty is a well-known Indian author. In this book, we have two men, Venkatesh and Mukesh, who are searching for a mother they never knew. Venkatesh is a settled bank manager with an entrepreneurial wife and two talented children. He enjoys his well-planned life until one day he discovers a hidden past involving his father and a pregnant woman who later gave birth to a son. Venkatesh unravels the truth about his step-brother and their family, who are in dire financial need. To pay off his father's debts, Venkatesh arranges funds, even taking help from his own daughter, who is willing to assist her father because her mother refuses to provide financial support from her accounts. On the other hand, Mukesh, the son of Mr. Rao and Sumati, learns the shocking truth about his parentage after his father's death rituals. A family member finds an old photograph and calculates the dates, revealing the bitter reality. Mukesh embarks on a journey to find his biological mother, Rupinder, who, in turn, discloses another isolated secret to him: he is not Rupinder's son but the child of an unwed mother who entrusted him to Rupinder because she lost her own son during childbirth. This story is emotionally impactful, highlighting the sacrifices each mother makes for their loved ones."

This book had been delivered within the specified time. It was new as described. The book itself was not that worth a buy as such but happy with the seller's service.

The story very realistically describes the situation that actually exists in society where some people are so blinded by the glamour and money that a job in the US offers that they often neglect the other far greater things in life. It makes the reader ponder whether money and glamour of a high paying job in the US is what defines success and happiness in life, or are other things like love, relationships and family the more important things in life? What is also commendable about the book is that the it doesnt speak against pursuing a high paying job or success in a foreign country, but it portrays how some people working abroad are blinded by greed and the power of the dollar, while others are not. Everything can be balanced in life and money cannot buy all the happiness in the world! Sudha Murty’s writing is crisp and and the story will be relatable for many people.
