The Original Road Kill Cookbook

I glanced through it while wrapping as a part of a Christmas Redneck Gift Grab Bag. It seemed like alot of fun. This book, wrapped together with a crock pot was the HIT of the party.

I have a friend who is a great cook, and she never shares her recipes.....or at least, when she shares, there is some critical ingredient she fails to include, and the results are never the same. This is my present for her, to stand beside her Julia Childs' cookbooks.Years ago now, I worked in the offshore oil field, and my deckhand previously worked with a captain who foraged road kill for his crew. He picked it up from the side of LA Hwy 1 between Leesville and Port of Fourchon on his way to the boat. No joke. When the crew complained to the office, which provided grocery allowance enough to not rely on road kill, a quick trip to the boat verified its presence in the freezer. So under those circumstances, the crew needed a cookbook such as this one.I cast no aspersions upon road kill per se, but it isn't for those with weak stomachs. Including myself. Don't take this seriously as a cookbook, but if you have a highly accomplished chef to buy for, this could be an exciting diversion for them. I doubt they ever heard of this cookbook. Published by Ten Speed Press....on the road again. :)

Consider this a good reference for those interested in off the wall recipes for road kill.

This book is hillarious! A must for anyone who drives the highways and byways in a rural or city area. I thought at first that my husband or father-in-law had written this book. Then I realized that I had not eaten any of these foods,since according to them I am a kill joy and won't let them scrape dead carcasses from the road and bring home. I guess they'll just have to figure out how to use these recipes for freshly killed and field dressed hunted creatures.Now if I could just get a how to freeze dry your husband's hunted meals................

When I first met my daughter-in-law, I gave her the nickname “Road Kill” as she had run over a couple animals. Seemed like a logical choice at the time. She is however an excellent cook. Seemed like a perfect gift for her.

It's ok..... Not really a cook book. More of a joke book about cooking wild game and Road kill???? Well not really road kill per say... hence the jokes. But does make for some great stories when the folks come by to enjoy a real home cooked meal of wild game Killed by the great hunters who darn near froze to death sitting in a tree stand for two weeks. Men do some strange things to amuse themselves. Even chase balls all day into a little hole in the dirt. So buy the book, and enjoy the laughs that it will start everyone to enjoy!

I actually purchased this book years ago at a rock climbing store out in the desert in Arizona. I perused through it and had to have it. It was a conversation piece to share with friends for sure. A friend borrowed it (happend several times) and then moved a few hours away. Then lost track of the book probably during the move. I was happy to find it at Amazon. Recipes are for real and the humor is awesome. Each sketch on each page also brings out the humor even more. Great outdoorsman and redneck humor!
