Epigenetics in Human Disease (Translational Epigenetics): 9780123884152: Medicine & Health Science Books @ desertcart.com Review: outstanding in clarity, comprehensiveness and ease of navigating - sound scientific treatise of a very new field of research. It is a pleasure to read and the drawings are clear and comprehensive Review: Considerable Detail But Lacks Overviews - Epigenetics is an expansive text by multiple authors covering an exploding field. The text manages to address all the key issues by examining the state of the literature. It deals with non coding RNAs including miRNA and lncRNAs and deals with methylation across DNA and acetylation on histones. It looks at cancers and others diseases and its span of the literature is superb. In essence, it is a wonderful review of the literature. On the negative side it totally lacks an overview for the less attuned reader. One must somewhat fully understand methylation first before approaching this book. Then and only then do you have a platform to explore the wealth of information contained within the book. The multi-author approach has positives and negatives. On the one hand the authors present world-class material useful for those looking to explore niches of epigenetics. On the other hand it tends to lead to a disparate set of chapters with no cohesive core. For those in the field this is highly valuable and is well worth the purchase. However for those newly exploring the area this is a difficult first introduction.
