NeatReceipts Mobile Document Scanner and Digital Filing System for PC and Mac

Very nice and effective tool don't worry about the bad reviews, most bad reviews came from people that have hard time using any thing that is more advance than a pencil. it will take few days to get used to it and the software gets more used to you ( the more vendors names and categories you add things will get easier next time you use the same vendor or category because its already stored). the complain about the delay is normal because the process of your receipt or document does not happen on your computer it is sent to the neat company over the internet the comes back to your computer so your internet speed is a big factor in average each receipt takes about 30 seconds between scanning and processioning if you scan your receipts in daily basis thing will be easier, just remember at the end of the year when you push a button and have all of your numbers ready, added and categorized for tax prep.

I needed to replace my portable scanner and previously had owned the same make and model. Does just what it is supposed to do and give much higher quality scans than a cell phone photo can do. The legacy Neat software which synchs with the Neat on-line is getting hard to find, but is the perfect pair with this scanner. It also works as a generic scanner to import into acrobat to create PDF files. Designed to do one task and does it well

**UPDATE** I now just found that the software that runs on your computer has been desupported. Now, this product is meant to only be used with a paid cloud subscription. Dropping one star. I really wish now that I had purchased the Doxi scanner instead! There are a few things that make this a very hard product to use. I have been able to scan over 2000 receipts in the last few days since I recieved the item, but the hardware and software just seems to work against me at every step. - The number one biggest complaint: The device knows when I put a receipt in. I can feel it start to grab it. BUT I still have to press the scan button on the device or on the software. It should just start scanning the receipt and go. why do I need to use both hands to place the receipt then the other hand to press the scan button. This seems like the biggest missed opportunity for the NeatReceipts scanner. - The software (Windows 10), sometimes crashes while processing an image and then the image is lost. If I have 5 images queued for processing it makes it very hard to go back and find out where I left off. - Even though most receipts are long skinny shape, the image the software grabs has a huge black space to the right which I have to crop. - To crop each image takes 10 mouse clicks. A lot of work to crop an image to only keep the receipt part. - the software should just detect black space and auto-crop that out - within a single folder, I cannot adjust the currency of a single receipt. Once I chose US, I only get Dollars. - The software can rarely find the vendors for very common grocery stores like Safeway, Fred Meyer, Target, etc. You will have to manually edit every receipt's total, tax, time, and company - I had too high of hopes for its ability. - while not a problem yet, I found that every receipt scanned goes into a single *.nwdb file which keeps growing apparently forever. At nearly 2GB now. I am concerned if there is any corruption whatsoever in this very large file that I will lose all of my reciepts. I would have thought there could be some way to create more smaller files to reduce the loss if there is a fault somewhere. I will instead immediately dump out all of my receipts as PDF and store somewhere else. I don't trust this software enough with years of receipts without this file getting corrupt losing everything. - During installation it wasn't clear how to just start using this. I got many prompts that kept requiring me to create a cloud account even though I said I only wanted to use the classic local mode only.

I think it works well. I like the software (although sometime it does misread receipts, I don't mind it because I review everything I scan) And so far I have noticed that the program stops working and has to close quite often. But I haven't had any loss of data because of that, or anything else major that I can complain about! It works for me!

This scanner is perfect for my business. It keeps my receipts organized. The compact size is perfect, it does not take up much room on my desk

The product software does not work. The web sites are broken or bogus. The contact numbers lead to a useless phone tree with no support and no ability to talk to human. There seems to be a requirement to buy a service with a recurring payment not reveled in the product information.

I love this smaller potable version. So easy to use. I even scan photos on it, by scanning as document in color. The photos are perfect for online sharing, not likely good enough to have prints made though. Since it's portable, I can take it along with my laptop and scan photos and documents at my family members homes. I not only use this for tax and organization purposes, but also for ancestry/genealogy.

I've been using my scanner for a few months now and I have to say that I am very impressed. It reads documents of all shapes and sizes very clearly and it gives a very accurate picture. I love this scanner and I am very happy I made the purchase, even though there were some negative reviews. Take the chance and order it, you'll be glad you did.
