Krud Kutter RX01 Rustex Rust Converter, 1 Gallon (Pack of 2)

Must admit i was kind of skeptical when i read the reviews but i got a 2pk at a very good price so i decided to try it and i am not disappointed. works instantly on just about any kind of metal. Results remain consistent even after exposing the surfaces to water again.

I am thoroughly disappointed in this product. It looks and acts like colored water. It does not convert the rust to primed metal like a true converter that I have used before. I do not suggest buying this. I know what the real stuff does. Yes, the real converter is alot more expensive but worth the difference. You find the real stuff advertised in farm magazines for around $70 to $90 per gallon.

This product resembles green kool-aid with a different smell.I bought this to rust-proof various metal objects in my basement and garage. I started with some cast iron weight plates as testing ground in my basement and wire-brushed the majority of rust off then applied Krud Kutter. Next morning barely anything had happened; waiting 2 days was no help. Krud Kutter turned the lightly rusted metal into more of a dusty-white than a black-paintable surface and did not really penetrate the light rust (which ended up looking maroon-hued). I gave up after several attempts.I remember a viscous white liquid (think translucent white paint) from 25 years ago that would turn rust to a black paintable surface in about 10 minutes. This product was not even close.Maybe this product works well on new metal but I didn't test.

So far, this product is fine for light rust removal. Price was right for a large quantity. It is not a more expensive rust converter. Used this to remove rust on 65 year old wrought iron hand rails prior to painting. When left on overnight, it removed the light rust but left a gummy residue which needed to be removed prior to priming and painting. I also tried using it on an old riding mower gas tank that was rusted inside. Filled it, shook it alot and emptied it a week later. Removed some rust, but not all. Recommend it for light rust removal, but be prepared to remove residue prior to painting.

When I was looking to purchase more rust converter to spray the underneath of my 4 older vehicles, which I do every year to combat the salt brine being put on the roads here in the northeast during the winter, I discovered this product which was a lot less expensive than the others I'd used. I read the reviews, which were mixed, but figured for the price warranted at least giving it a try. Some reviews complained that it was very runny, like colored kool-aid, but I wanted something I could spray. The other types of converters I'd used previously didn't spray well. After power washing the underneath of my vehicles and letting them dry, I sprayed all of them using about 1 3/4 gals. The next day I noticed a lot of the metal had starting turning black, but there were also some white film areas. Not worrying about it, I gave it a more time, and about 2-4 days later noticed that more areas had turned black and some of the white film areas were changing to black. There are still some white film areas, but since most of what I sprayed did turn black I figure it may just be my spraying, may not have had good coverage in those spots. I'm happy with this product and will difinately purchase and use it again next year.

This stuff is great, does exactly what it says it does. The rust turns white over night and is ready for paint. If you spend some time wire brushing then use Krud Kutter you will have a nice smooth surface to paint.

I've used Krud Kutter degreaser before, good product. Tried this out on rusty Ohio car undercarriage. Even though application was in a very cold, unheated garage, the chemical worked fine. I found brushing on superior to spraying. I'ts the consistency of water, and brushing forces it into cracks and other hard to reach places. Best price for gallon is $23.00, plus shipping. Got two for $36.00, WOW. Have enough for several cars. Very pleased.

I ignored the reviews in the hopes of an inexpensive way of refinishing my trailer. All it did was turn the trailer green in some areas, and the rust is still rust. This was NOT heavy rust either, just a layer of surface rust. Spend your money on a better product, like Corroseal. I will be contacting the company in an attempt to get my money back.
