Yamaha TSX-140 Desktop Audio System with iPod Dock (Gray)

This radio/CD, MP3 player is just what we needed for my husband's workspace in the basement of our second home. In fact the sound is so good we will purchase a second one for our kitchen/dining room area so that I can enjoy my music too! It is simple to operate, my iPod worked right away, no complicated set up (well, I guess that's normal!). My husband listens to the radio a lot. The unit is not yet in the space where he will use it in our other home, so we are not sure about radio reception there, but that would be a problem with location, not with the Yamaha Desktop system, since reception (with antenna set up) is just fine in our workroom in our main home. I would recommend this radio-plus to anyone, and really appreciate the Yamaha sound quality. I have a minor comment - the remote is small, and my husband is likely to put it down and lose it amongst the stuff on his workbench. I am thinking of using velcro to have a specific, clearly visible place to put the remote. This is not a Yamaha problem, but is something to think about when setting up the unit.

Perfect size, perfect tone, and just overall exactly what I wanted. I purchased two of these items, one for my daughter. She thought hers was perfect as well.

I wish the sound quality was better. The features are nice, but the overall sound is not as good as I had hoped/anticipated. As a small-room stereo, it is convenient and nice looking, and I really like the iPhone/iPod dock. However, I would not recommend it to someone whose priority is the quality of the speakers/sound.

We bought this for our mid-sized kitchen and are quite pleased. The radio has a compact footprint but a larger mellow sound that fills the room nicely. Good reception, and the controls are easy to learn to use. We like the USB port feature to create our own mix of music. The unit fits in well w/ our decor and does not attract attention.

I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a compact desktop audio system. Not only does it have great flexibility in terms of the types of media it will play (which include AM / FM radio, CD, USB thumb drives, iPods as well as an auxiliary input), its sound quality is more than adequate, given that its a desktop unit with small speakers. The bass in particularly is exemplary for such a small unit. I also appreciate the fact that relative to many of its competitors, its "footprint" means that it doesn't take up a significant amount of space on whatever piece of furniture it is placed. I feel it is an outstanding product for anyone looking for the ability to play music from different sources in a kitchen or a bedroom.

I bought this unit to use primarily as a radio, and it's the worst purchase of electronics ever. The radio reception is absolutely awful. It comes with an "external FM antenna" that's just a useless piece of wire. Don't waste your money on this unless you live across the street from your favorite station.

I use this to charge my iPhone and play music, and it sounds fantastic. This unit sits on my nightstand next to my bed, and the display is easy on the eyes.The controls are not visible in the dark, but I know where the power button, volume control and alarm on buttons are, so it's not a big deal.I have not used the remote control, CD play or FM/AM tuner.

It was Christmas time and I really wanted to buy a stereo for my husband to keep in the living room. With all the advertisements going on about the Bose I just about was convinced. I definitely wanted something small that would just kind of blend into the living room. The Bose has such good PR and it sounded so perfect but it was just so so expensive. I was just pushing the button to order it and I stopped and just thought I need to research this more. I'm so glad that I did. I started reading a lot of reviews on things that sounded comparable to the Bose. I found this one and the reviews sounded pretty good. I was shocked at how nice it looked and how great it sounded. In fact I'm getting ready to order a second one now for the bedroom.
