2 Years and Still Going Strong.
We made this purchase around two years ago of the Cosmo COS-QB75 under cabinet range hood. We have been using the ventilation unit almost everyday and it is still working great. The installation is what I had have read with other reviews, that it is not easy and not a one person install. Taking advice from other reviews we place cardboard down on top of stove top range and used a cooler with flat lid to support the unit before we lifted to mount. The rear wall mounting screws did not work out for us. But, once we mounted it into the cabinet above it was rock solid. The fan is a bit loud, but it does the job. Before we had an overhead microwave with fan ventilation and the smoke alarm would go off every time I seared meat. With the Cosmo system the smoke alarm system hasn’t gone off while cooking. Most of the time I am only using the first ventilation speed setting, once in a while with heavy browning or cleaning cast iron pan I will use the highest setting. The big selling point of this system for me while I spent over a month researching ventilation systems for stove top exhaust, was the mechanical buttons. I came across a lot of systems that had digital buttons and this was a major failure point of those systems. Which made sense to me with all the moisture and grease that would be venting up into the unit. The unit still looks brand new and only had a little wear on the first speed button on the backside from rubbing of the button paint. It gets constant use and has held up pretty good in all and all. I took a chance after doing research on this unit and I am very happy with the product.

Great range hood; tricks to install
I read many reviews on this unit and for the most part, quality of the unit was not in question. It is a bit louder than our previous unit; hard to have a conversation when you are standing near the fan, but it does suck everything out. The most notable comments had to do with installation. I used to install elevators, so I have a pretty good sense of leverage. Although I was planning to build a platform to the height I needed, I found a box that was sturdy and the height I wanted. After cutting the hole in my cabinet for the vent and drilled the holes for the mountings, I used some longer than necessary carriage bolts (5/16 x 3”) and dropped them through the cabinet and the holes in the hood. The holes were perfect from the template provided. Here’s where it got tricky. I had to get a washer and nut on the bolt. I used a piece of tape on the washer to keep it in place on the bolt and then started the nut. Where I couldn’t turn the nut, I held the nut and turned the bolt. Once I had all of the nuts on and hand tightened them to the most I could do, I had to use a ratchet with a ten inch extension and a universal joint to have the flexibility to tighten everything up. My original plan was to replace each of bolts with shorter ones, but they are covered up when you put in the filters. Putting this in by myself took roughly an hour and a half. The fan works so well on low that it blew my vent off outside before it was attached to my brick. The LED lights are bright and angled perfectly. The picture I included is a bit incomplete because we haven’t finished the countertops and back splash. When we put the quartz behind the range, it will look great. I hope this helps anyone who is installing it.

A Few Small Complaints
The unit looks great, the controls are sleek, and the baffles/filters are attractive and easy to clean. As a lot of people have stated, it's heavy, but a good bit of that weight is the three baffles which need not be in place while installing the unit. The installation template is very helpful, and the wood screws come with beveled washers which is a nice touch I hadn't seen before. Ostensibly the 58-lb weight necessitates good washers so the screws don't rip out of the unit's metal skin. Complaint #1: The installation instructions are disingenuous as regards an under cabinet/soffit installation. They say to hang the unit on the wall and then screw it in vertically to the cabinet/soffit. The thing is, to hang it on the wall using the keyhole slots on the back require some vertical clearance to get the screws to seat in the keyholes. Most of us need a flush (top) installation, so the reality is that one must install it vertically and only then attach it to the wall. That means standing underneath it while aligning the four washers with the keyholes. It's dangerous. Have help at hand. Complaint #2 The wood screws provided are made from cheesy steel and have #2 phillips heads that strip with the slightest pressure. I had to replace the fasteners with torx-headed construction fasteners. Complaint #3 The unit comes with a length of flexible 8-inch duct and a single hose/worm clamp to attach it to the unit. They don't include a second hose/worm clamp for the other end. I found this personally annoying since I had to go get one and they tend not to be stocked in the big box stores. Overall, it's a fine unit that I'm happy with, but for you DIYers out there, make sure you have help for the installation, especially if you aren't very experienced.

Extremely powerful range hood. It will suck away all cooking smell in minutes
I bought this a few days ago and just finish installing it. My first impression is really good so far. The two fans used to suck the air up into the exhaust duct are VERY VERY powerful. However, the downside is that they are really loud if you put it on highest setting. The stainless steel design is very slick and modern. The LED lights underneath are very bright and can be easily replaceable. Words of WARNING: this is not easy to install because it weights a ton (not literally). The instruction manual says it only weight 60 pounds, but due to its size, to hold it and slide it into place require some weightlifter's strength. My wife and I almost give up just because how heavy it is. There are paper templates to help you drill the holes for top or back mount. Please use these templates. They are godsend. Due to its heavy weight and you have to hold it a certain way to install it correctly, this is not some easy installation job. Other than that, this is a must buy for all kitchen. Let hope it will last for years.
