Pachmayr 05056 Decelerator Grips, S&W N Frame Square Butt

I had standard Pachmayr presentation grips on my 4'' S&W 629 .44 mag. It was pretty nasty to shoot. These grips really add some control and take the sting out of shooting.

Added this to a S&W 44 Mag and it significantly improved the shootability by reducing the impact on your hand. Highly recommended it for any large caliber revolver as it is comfortable yet still provides a solid grip.

Very poor fit, so bad the front won’t close completely with the screw as tight as it will get there’s still a 1/8” gap. I recently purchased the same grip with a round butt and it fit perfectly so I thought I would take a chance. I had problems a couple years ago with Pachmayr grips fitting good but gave them another chance, that was a $55+ mistake. Won’t do that again. Sure, I could get my money back but then I would probably try Pachs again in another year or two. They used to sell a good product but their QC department must have been terminated. There should be a rating less than 1 star, like a -5 stars.

As advertised - they are great in fit, comfort, and controllability. Well worth the money. Highly recommended.

Grip is extremely comfortable in hand. Installation very simple. The grips are extremely soft and retention screw will almost be pulled through grip if over tightened. Read on another review a small washer is extremely helpful. For the price not sure why one wasn't included. Overall love Pachmayr products been using them for years.

Best, most comfortable rubber grip on the market for an N- frame S&W if you don't need that special level of "showroom pretty". Decent price and quick shipping.

There is something wrong with the way the screw tightens up, it goes in to far and sticks out the other side. UPDATE=== Called Lyman Products about the screw problem today 11/9/21 and they said if I returned the grips with proof of purchase they would send a replacement grip, but they have no remedy for the problem , they said you just have to stop tightening the screw before it sticks out. I guess gonna try to get a washer or two at the hardware store to go under the head of the screw and try that. They did say there is a metal insert in the rubber on the head side of the screw, so I feel better knowing it's not just the rubber alone , at least extra washers will have something to seat against. Got the washer idea from another review.
