It works for me.
I've used hydroguard for several years in a small hydroponic grow using 5 gal. black buckets. When I get root rot, I lift the root ball our of the bucket and strip off all of the rotted roots by hand and put back in the bucket with new water and hydroguard. I put the water level up to the bottom of the net pot. I have had great luck with the roots coming back nice and white and great production. I also pour some of the water from the top to coat any roots in the net pot. Just my experience.

Best thing for plants
Amazing product: makes hydroponics much easier. All you need to do is not nutrient burn your plants after adding this stuff. Keep in a cool dry place and will last for years. Also works as a hot composting innoculant with OUTSTANDING results. Literally overnight started cooking the bad guys out of a rotting layer that an arborist had sandwiched between the wood chips they dropped off.

This helped my in-door plants survive 2026 heat wave!!!!
Been using this for 2 months now, and it has made all the difference with my in-door hydroponic garden during this hot summer heat wave. I was able to keep my thermostat between 78-80, and I used this with each feeding which protected the roots and aided the plant health during this hot spell. Without this, I would have been forced to lower my thermostat back down to 68, like last year, but I avoided that this year because of this Hydroguard. I'm growing all green vegetables, and generally when the in-door temps go much past 70, the plants bolt and wither:, but not this time around!

Great for my automated watering system
Works great to slow down "stuff" from growing in the tanks of my automated watering system. It won't prevent it entirely, but stays much cleaner for longer than water alone. And with about 1/2 teaspoon per gallon, a little goes a long way.

Seems helpful
So it is hard to rate this product. I'm not sure what effect it should have. BUT this is what I have observed. I moved from a bunch of Aerogarden and Salad Box grows to one large integrated system where the water flows from plant to plant. We had a fire, lost the mud room in the rebuild due to budget. I decided one large system would be far more attractive in the public area of the house. After a while, things seemed to stop growing. In addition, I've had more trouble with aphids than ever before. I did research. My reading indicated that it is harder to balance the needs of a variety of plants rather than similar plants in small containers. They recommended a water additive such as this. The claim is that it makes nutrients more available to plants. One week after beginning to use with each watering the plants, especially greens, are growing nicely once again. Literally in two days most of the greens doubled in size. The tomatoes seem to be ripening more quickly. I see no difference in the aphids problem (it is summer and near the main door). Nor any difference in the herbs. I hope this information is helpful to others.

A must for using tap water with enriched soils - if you love your plants, do the right thing.
Takes the nasty out of tap water. Doesn't mess with pH and plays well with enzymes and nutrients. I have used it for five years, indoors and outdoors, seedlings through harvest, in soil and medium, dwc hydro and waterfall hydro. Since I started using Hydroguard, I have never lost a single plant to root rot. Even in large reservoir circulating hydro setups, a quart goes a long way. Suggested dosage is 2mL to a gallon, so I can run a 27-gallon recirculator for about a year at gal/wk between resets. Just put it on your list if you're an indoor grower, you need it.

Cure root rot
could not get rid of root rot, not with 34% h202, not with 15ppm of chlorine, change outs did not help. I had high chlorine levels in the system which did keep PH stable, but plants would not eat the rot was not effected just kept the water clean. I then added the last of the h202 I had left to neutralize the chlorine, and do what ever damage it could to the rot. about 24 hours after since there was plenty of work for the h202 to do it most likely had all turned into water\oxygen within the first 24 hours. I then without a change out added 2ml gallon of Hydroguard, then a about 1\2ml gallon every day after for about a week. The plants almost instantly started eating 30-40ppm per day, and the water was dropping again although I had clear indication that the rot was still there as the PH would drop 7-10 points first day then slowly got better maybe 5-6 points etc, but became very stable after several days only raising 1-2 points as it should if the plants are eating good. I think some have success with sterile and some with bacteria like Hydroguard. I found a product called sag fungicide its a different strain bacteria then Hydroguard, but the same species but extremely concentrated for a fair price i will be testing it when my HG runs out. UC roots the recommended product was not the right choice for me. as I don't know if I could have added enough to keep my system clean. also I have no light leaks I'm very experienced and knowledgeable I understand these things, also my chiller is oversized and rez is at 67 degrees. first time trying beneficial bacteria and I love it, it seems logical too its like putting 1 billion mosquito into a sealed room with idk couple 100 squirrel's lol they have no defense.
