It takes a while to assemble and comes with a lot of pieces so its not ideal for kids younger than 4 years old. Would recommend to others! I purchased this around Christmas time for my son's birthday which was last week. Everything looked great about the package so I didn't think anything of it. Upon finally opening it today and attempting to build it we found that there were several (not one or two, but actually many) pieces missing and also many of the little bags inside were opened up previously. This leads me to wonder whether or not I received an item that had been previously purchased and returned or whether there was an issue in the packaging of this toy. Either way, my son is pretty disappointed and so the whole point of this present has missed the mark. I am attempting to return and have not yet decided if I want to risk purchasing another. As far as the durability of the toys, they are pretty standard to any mega bloks items. Needs better quality control *by D***S on November 6, 2014* Several complaints: 1.) Quality is not lego. There is loose tolerance in the blocks. Some blocks go together and don't come apart while others fall off easily. Needs better quality control. 2.) The whole thing is un-nesseraily cumbersome, several pieces flip back and forth. Lots of little pieces probably to make a high block count to make the toy seem more impressive. The whole thing probably took 30-40 minutes to put together. The plan should be simpler. No way my 5 yr old was putting this together. more suitable for 8+. 3.) The blocks aren't fully compatible with lego. I advise mixing them. It will only frustrate little builders.
