Versatile and perfect in the purse
The basic things everyone wants out of their makeup brushes are softness, easy care, bristles that don't shed, and effectiveness at putting on the makeup they are intended to be used with. This brush, and every other Ecotools brush I have tried, fit every criteria. The Ecotools line also has the bonus feature of using kind-to-the-earth materials--synthetic bristles (no animal products!) and recycled aluminum. (Their other brushes have bamboo handles, which I approve of as well.) Softness: Other brushes I tried poked my skin and were uncomfortable. The Ecotools brushes are soft and don't bother my sensitive skin one bit. Easy care: I use Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap to clean the brushes, then stand them upright to dry in a ceramic toothbrush holder I have repurposed for my brushes. They are just as good as new after washing. Shedding: I have never seen a single bristle shed, though another brand shed horrendously the first time I washed them--what a waste! Effectiveness: Fit the tool to the job and you will do fine. Many of the Ecotools brushes are perfect in both shape and size for mineral makeup. The kabuki brush is perfect for on-the-go application of anything from mineral concealer to mineral foundation to mineral blush. It also works great with compact-style makeup. I particularly like this retractable kabuki brush because it has a cap that completely covers and protects the bristles. Some of the smaller brushes I used to carry in my purse, even though I had them wrapped in a cloth case, got battered pretty quickly. The kabuki brush is proof against any of that. I've had it for many months at this point, carrying it in my purse everywhere, and it is just a nice as the day I purchased it. I highly recommend it--and at a fraction of the price that you might pay for brushes of lesser quality, it is as easy on your pocketbook as on your skin.

Love this makeup brush!
I previously had another makeup brush from EcoTools that I'd had for quite a while and when it was time to replace it, I couldn't find the same the same model of the brush anywhere I looked! I decided instead to try this version of the brush, as my previous experience with this brand was certainly positive, however I did have my reservations, especially with it being a retractable version, I was concerned that despite the convenience of the retractable feature that it would have a negative effect on the usability of the brush. After using this brush for some time now, I have to say that I love this brush and am very happy with the experience thus far. The bristles are just the right amount of soft and firm and it is a really good size and there are definitely no negative effects from the retractable function, just convenience. I highly recommend this brush and now prefer the retractable version over the non retractable version, it is great to take with you and doesn't leave a mess behind in your makeup bag / purse! The overall quality of this brush feels very similar to much more expensive brushes, the makeup goes on evenly and smoothly and never seems to bind into clumps, which with certain cheap brushes can be a problem. I would definitely buy this product again in the future and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great, convenient and good quality makeup brush.

The BEST QUALITY Retractable Kabuki I've owned
I've been carrying A Retractable Kabuki brush on my purse for forever. Even though in the morning, my base makeup may be a liquid foundation or Tinted Moisturizer, I carry a powder foundation for midday Touchups and I prefer to use the kabuki brush for this. I've gone through numerous unknown brands of these brushes and at first, they all worked great, but after a few washes, no matter how careful I was to keep the brush upside down, the brush would become detached from the bottom, where up pops up and down from. So, I finally decided to stop being cheap and bought one from Eco Tools, because when I first started learning to apply my Eyeshadow etc. with brushes, these were always quality made and long lasting. I love this Kabuki brush so much better for lots of reasons. I feel the bristles are softer and of better quality, I get more coverage with just a couple swipes the brush. I can also use it to freshen up my blush after foundation and the blush still looks seamless and it reacts well to my spray brush cleaner that I use in between my weekly washes. And as far as my deep cleansing goes, the wishy of the bristles are just as soft and have maintained their perfect shape, and unlike my previous ones, they is no hint of the base becoming the slightest bit loose which happens right before it becomes completely detached. It's definitely worth the extra few dollars and I couldn't be happier

nice brush, but not well made...
This is a nice, soft brush that is a great replacement for the powder puff I have been using to apply my mineral powder foundation for the last few years. I was tired of the weird streaky look I was getting with the puff, so I decided to try a brush. This brush is LARGE and the fact that it's retractable is a bonus- it's easy to carry along with you, travel with, and also stays cleaner when not in use. And it is a great applicator- the powder goes on smoothly and doesn't leave any powdery streaks on my face. Perfect! The only issue is that the brush came apart into four pieces (cap, base, brush, retracting mechanism) when I was trying to remove it from the packaging and now it doesn't retract anymore. If I futz with it a bit I can get it to slide back into the cap, but most of the time I just leave it out, which is fine but defeats the purpose of a retractable brush! Just be careful when pulling it from the cloth packaging it comes in.

Great brush
I’ve always love this brand of brush and so glad I found this for travel. It makes it so convenient while traveling and the brush doesn’t get all messed up. The bristles are so soft.

I love this brush
I love this brush. I’ve used this for many years. I have 1 in my purse, 1 at the office and 1 at home. My first one was from Ulta and the other 2 were from Amazon. It’s soft and gentle on my sensitive skin and works well with liquid, cream or mineral powder. I used to wash it (the whole thing) with shampoo and water or with expensive brush cleaners, both of which did a fair job but took forever to dry and always left some residue. Now, I use good old isopropyl alcohol. I pour the alcohol in a small cup and swirl the bristles. I’m not gentle with it at all. (Actually, I don’t swirl it - I squash and smash it in the cup because I want to make sure every single bristle gets cleaned.) I replace the alcohol and do this a few times until ALL makeup has been removed and alcohol runs clear. You’d be amazed at how much makeup is in there. Isopropyl alcohol is cheap and it cleans and disinfects the brush thoroughly without leaving ANY residue. The brush comes out soft and fluffy, like new. It dries quickly because it’s alcohol, and dries even faster if you towel dry first then blow dry. In between washings, I clean them with alcohol wipes. I do this with all my make-up brushes every couple of weeks. Try this. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Soft brush
The brush does not fully retract into the tube, and the first time I used it, a couple bristles fell out.

Brocha multiusos, y bella
Es la brocha de empaque más bonito, color súper original, material durable y de cerdas realmente de calidad, muy suavecitas. La usé para retocar el polvo compacto y blush pero también para difuminar base, si no se baja por completo el cilindro del empaque.

Soft, easy to close, and really good for travelling.
I've used this a few times now and am really happy with it. The way it tucks into its case is brilliant - the brush itself isn't the moving part - just the sleeve which comes up over the bristles to kind of guide the cap over everything without damaging it at all. It's very soft and applies mineral foundation very well w/ a great finish and no little bristles coming loose and getting all over your face (so annoying!) I am thinking I will get the brush soap from EcoTools as well to keep it nice and clean and in good shape. I have very happily gotten rid of all my old kabuki brushes, and at only 1/4 the price of a branded version, I am loving this. Just right.
