Pond Boss Waterfall Pump, 2300 GPH

This is an outstanding pump for my outdoor pond waterfall. After going through a couple pumps from the big box stores, I bought this thing from Amazon 6 years ago, and it's been running 24 hours a day ever since, and still going strong. I've run it year-round with water temps anywhere from near freezing to near 100F. It has a lot of power. I have about a 12 foot run of 1" hose with a 4-foot rise and going through an exterior pond filter before my waterfall. It still shoots out a lot of water even when the filter is quite clogged. I have it deflected to spread the stream. If it wasn't deflected, it would probably shoot out several feet horizontally from where I have it mounted in this picture. A couple times I thought I may have killed it when the water ran low and it stopped pumping. However, it was still making a buzzing sound like it was trying to run, so I took the basket off and I turned the impeller slightly an it started working again. If that happens, I recommend using a screwdriver or something so it doesn't bite you. I really think the bag helps extend the life significantly by keeping large debris from getting near the impeller.

If you're looking for a pond pump, there's a 99% chance that you have a water feature and need this for that. That's what this review is being written for. There are other uses, I actually have one to transfer water from an aquarium at a high volume to a disposal unit and then vice versa to replenish. I have purchased at least four of these pumps over the years for various uses, but what's interesting? Is the one unit subjected to the most amount of punishment, 24 hours of straight use, 7 days a week, 365 days a year... In Northeast Ohio where it certainly freezes this unit's lasted 7 years. Simply unheard of. Here's the bottom line, some people look at the units with a little stainless steel and figure they have to be better, who knows, maybe they are... But are they worth five times the money? Think about it, what if it lasts you 3 years and only cost you $100 versus buying one for $600 logic says that you're going to live a very long time before you ever catch up to the price of the more expensive unit. It just doesn't make economic sense. I have no doubt that these are made in China, and that somehow we're screwing the American worker. Worker. It just would be nice if the Americans would start making reasonably priced competitive units so I didn't have to buy everything from Amazon in out of China. Give this pump a chance, you'll be really happy with it and save a bunch of money

Pretty solid pump. I use this in a small turtle pond and purchased it back in 2022. It's been running 24/7 for over three years and still works great. This pond develops algae in the summer, and the pump, along with its original pump bag, has proven a wise investment. I'm giving it 5 stars for the fact that it's still going strong after 3 years of constant use.

Lasted from 4/12/24 till 5/25/24. Checked on pond this morning and pump had died after working only 6 weeks! You would know the last day to return was 5/11/24. 60 bucks down the drain...CHINA, CHINA, CHINA (makes garbage). UPDATE: 5/31/24 Company sent a replacement pump for the one that failed. They stand behind their products and will honor warranties. Would have given 5 stars if original pump had not failed so early. Replacement without having to return or encumber any shipping fees. 1st class operation that is worthy of your business.

This month makes 6 years since I bought this pump for my koi pond. It does get a break over the winter so that my lines don't freeze, but it runs 9 months of the year with no problems.

I had started a waterfall/pond project with one stream and then it morphed into two streams with falls at the end of each. I purchased a 1340 gph pump and 1" tubing prior to deciding to add the 2nd stream. As much as I tweaked it with foam and moving rocks around, I just couldn't get the flow I envisioned. I purchased this 2000 gph pump, connected the 1" tubing and the flow pretty much doubled. Still didn't look quite like I had envisioned. The manufacturer recommends 1 1/2" tubing to maximize the flow so I decided to bite the bullet, not meaning the extra cost so much as having to dig up the 1" and replace it with 1 1/2. Believe me it was worth it! The flow has probably quadrupled, or more, from my original setup! Now it looks like I imagined. Also, this pump is quieter than my less powerful pump. The 1340 I could hear a hum from when I was close to the pond. This one I don't hear at all. Great product!

We have a smallish pond and I didn't think before buying this monster. It works great, was easy to install and seems to have a good build quality. But 2300 GPH is a lot of flow, and not calming at all. I'm giving it a five star review because it does what it says on the tin, but if you have a smallish pond (maybe a little bit bigger than a large Jacuzzi bathtub) with a 3 ft waterfall, maybe go for something smaller if you want any relaxation. It was also kind of loud - but I would expect that for the size.

Good, strong pump for waterfall. The mesh bag keeps out rocks and debris. My old pump seized because gravel had gotten into the motor.

We use this in a backyard pond and it works very well. This is a great quality pump for the price that we paid. We pump the water from one end of the pond to a higher elevation where the water flows down towards a small waterfall at the other end of the pond.
