Everything about these is perfection!!!!
Oh, these are incredible! I'm not a fan of poppy seeds, but other than that, each flavor is so delicious!!! The cinnamon one really pulled memories out of me. My late maternal grandma & great-grandma. are from Germany & one tradition I loved as a child was "afternoon tea time" with my grandma (my great grandma was in her mid 90s so she wasn't as active that I can recall, since I lost both sides of grandparents by the time I was 7ish). Anyways.....no proper tea time can occur without a baked snack accompaniment. Every afternoon, like clock work, my grandma would call our landline to tell me the tea is ready. I walked over to her house (only 2 houses down from mine), & she'd always have a piece of buttered cinnamon-sugar toast on homemade bread ready with our tea. She always used real butter, so it was such a yummy, savory-sweet snack for tea. I still occasionally make the same toast, but it doesn't taste the same without the same butter she used (I don't even know which butter brands to try to find the original). So when I saw these.... I had a feeling it would be reminiscent of tea time with grandma, & sure enough I was thankfully correct!!! I don't even heat them up because they are good on their own cold. I'll eventually try heating each up to see how the flavor profile alters, but it truly doesn't need it for me. I understand how some may believe these to be "dry"....... for those without experience with European cake cuisine....... imagine these are typical southern biscuits, just a bit more condensed & crumbly. If you cannot eat a plain, buttered southern biscuit without gravy, then you probably won't like these cold. I do recommend cutting a small piece off one before heating it up to see what you think of the texture, but ya know, it's a griddle cake so you can only soften it up a small amount. This is not a cake batter. It is not meant to be light, fluffy, or airy. Last thing.... cranberry orange is my favorite baked goods fruit combo & this variation is no different! I would buy a whole box of just that & cinnamon lol Seriously....the last thing lol....... I hope to see a strawberry banana variation in the future, since almost everything tastes good with that fruit combo!!! Now the last, last thing...... thank you for sharing your love of griddle cakes from Wales with the world! It truly brought back missed memories of happy childhood times & that is an amazing thing to experience again.

Never have I ever had such great customer service on Amazon
My son was doing a project about immigration to Ellis Island with his entire fourth grade at school. Each student had to select a country to study and on the final day of the project a luncheon was held where each student brought a food item from the country they selected. I waited until the last minute to try to decide what food item we would make from the country of Wales. With very little time to do this, I went onto Amazon to see what I could find. I came across the Welsh Baker here and saw that they had Welsh cakes I could purchase. But when I placed my order, I was concerned that the cakes would not arrive in time for the school luncheon. I saw that there was a phone number for the seller and I called it on a Saturday afternoon at about 3:30pm. I was extremely surprised when the seller answered the phone right away. He was so nice to speak to, he listened to my explanation of why we needed this delivery to get to us sooner than the date expected. The seller went above and beyond to make sure that he shipped the Welsh cakes out as soon as possible And they arrived two days earlier than I expected. Not only was that the most impressive customer service I had ever gotten from an Amazon seller, but the cakes were absolutely amazing. There were six flavors. They are the perfect little size and even without warming them up like it suggested, these cakes taste so amazing. Every single flavor is better than the next. This might be one of my new favorite snacks of all time. I cannot say enough good things about these delicious little cakes, and the seller who got them to us on time for our fourth grade project. Thank you to the Welsh Baker for coming through for us!

Good stuff from good people
I stumbled upon The Welsh Baker while shopping for Welsh tea and a Welsh coffee/tea cup over a year ago and decided to give these cakes a try. I'm glad I did. They have just the right amount of sweetness for me. As forewarned by the maker, they can be a little on the dry side and heating them a little helps soften them but I actually like them right out of the package. I've tried just about all of their standard flavors and a few of their one-offs and they have all been really good. I loved the Fireball Butterscotch cakes I ordered a few months ago. Unfortunately, one-offs don't hang around long but the good news is they're constantly cooking up new ones for people to enjoy. While their cakes are really good, what really hooked me was their Bara Brith scones. Those things with their warm spices taste like Christmas to me and make for a nice breakfast or late night snack. Their shortcake should probably be on the controlled substance list it is so addictive!!!! It's extremely difficult to eat just one of those sugar dusted delights and not consume the whole pack. None of this goodness is cheap but these aren't mass produced by a huge international conglomerate. It's a family owned and operated business in California. They're good folks who do it because they love it. You can go to their website, see their faces, read their stories, and know where your money went as you enjoy the tasty treats delivered to your doorstep.

Tasty, but too expensive
The flavor and freshness on these is great compared to other versions we've tried. They are a good size as well. However, the price is a bit high for what you are getting. The convenience of not having to make them yourself is nice, but not worth the cost to us generally. Also, I really can't tell the difference between my baked ones and their griddled version. If the griddling is making them so expensive, I'd drop it. I genuinely cannot tell the difference. Neither can my retired pastry chef sister, who has made millions of these. We might buy again in a pinch, but we're likely to continue to make our own rather than pay this much. If you can't or don't want to make your own, and have a decent amount of excess cash, these are certainly quite tasty.

These are so good
Absolutely wonderful! These are so fresh and delightful. The only ones I didn’t care for (which is a personal taste thing, not an issue with the product) were the Cinnamon and the Currant flavors. But I couldn’t get enough of the Cranberry Orange and the Lemon Poppyseed flavors. I will 100% be ordering these again. The thickness, texture and freshness were perfection. They also don’t crumble apart when bitten or cut!

Tasty treats
These little Welsh cakes are yummy! Served just slightly warm with butter, they are very tasty. A little pricy but great as a treat,

Really good, but...
I got a variety pack. Best flavor so far is the orange/cranberry. These are very tasty. Not as firm as an American scone. More like one of the sweet biscuits from Hardees but with a denser texture. Add butter, heat up, and its the equivalent to eating buttered toast with a not very sweet jelly. The problem is the price. It comes out to just over $5 per package. Each package has four cakes, and each cake is roughly two bites. So $5 for 8 bites. Its just not worth the cost. Too bad. I would order more if the price wasn't so high.

Excellent baked treats.
All of the flavors are great. It's hard to pick a favorite.
