Tagabiner The New Pet Tag Holder, Secure and Portable Solution to your Pet’s Tags

This is perfect! I only wish I had found it sooner! I use a Freedom Harness for my 60lb Boxer, with the tags attached to it instead of a collar. Since he's very active, I've been wary about using something like an S-ring with tension clips, and the simple key-ring I was using had already started losing its shape. The Tagabiner was the perfect solution! His tags fit perfectly, and it secures down with a locking screw. Now he can be as active as he wants and I don't have to worry about the tags getting lost. Pros: - No breaking a nail trying to pry it open to slide the tags on - No worries about a tension clip wearing down or breaking - Easy to Add/Remove/Replace tags - Tags are very secure - Very easy to use Cons: - Tags with small openings may not fit (I had no problems with either of the tags for my 60lb boxer) - Size limits number of tags (not really an issue with 2 tags, but trying to fit 4 may be a problem. Of course, if you need 4 tags, you may have bigger issues...) UPDATE: After almost a month of being worn by a very active boxer, the tagabiner is still secured as tightly as the day I attached it. This is definitely an excellent product!

This tag holder is the best product I've ever used! It's made of steel and the design is really smart!! It looks like one piece but it's comprised of two parts (3 including the screw) - a screw is drilled into the middle of the two loops. You remove the screw located in the middle of the tag, and the two pieces come apart in halves; so the loops look like they're cut in half lengthwise. You insert your dog's tags into the larger loop and the smaller loop fits over your dog's collar hoop. The halves are fit together by two connections (male/female) - a hole at the top, and a small peg-shaped part at the bottom. Assembly is a bit awkward, but once you have the two parts put into place; you use a screw driver to reconnect the two halves in the middle and you're finished. Sounds more complicated than it is, and the assembly time is well worth it because the tag is so solid and looks great! There aren't any weak parts like the tags that have a wire carabiner clip that get caught and break open. I would highly recommend this tag!!

Works great, as hoped. Very sturdy and secure. We had 3 instances when someone quickly attached the leash to the small metal tag rings that connect to the collar and then the tags would fall off /get lost when the dog would pull on the leash (tag drops to ground & dog chases something/got loose: have to get dog back and then buy new tags again). Note: if you skip using the mini tag rings, the tags rest on this in a perpendicular ("T") fashion and don't dangle, but there is no risk of clipping the leash to the tag instead of the collar anymore. Excellent so far.

When I get new rabies or ID tags for my dogs, I hate dealing with the split rings. My fingernails are very soft, so I have to find some kind of tool that can slip between the levels of the ring, but is wide enough to hold it open while I slide things on or off. It is especially difficult to get it wide enough to go on the D-ring on the collar. One of our dogs got sprayed by a skunk, mostly on the underside of her neck, and her nylon collar reeked, even when we got some of the odor off of her. So that meant buying a new collar and moving her tags. I'm not sure how I searched, but I found these, and they are just perfect. I just had my husband cut through the split ring rather than messing with it, and I put the tags on this holder, and the holder on the collar with ease.

The product is strong and well made. The screw lock is firm & I doubt it would come lose. However, the posts that hold the dog's tags are too big. The tags don't fit. The hole on the tags don't fit around the posts. How can something like that be messed up!? I had 4 tags and none fit. I could have placed 1 tag on the Tagabiner and just tightened it in place like a vice grip. The vendor arranged a quick & easy return for me. 10 stars for the vendor!

The Tagabiner I bought in June seems to be made of a lighter color metal than I see in the photos of ones that wore through. If it wears through I will update my review; since I can't speak yet to long-term durability I only gave it 4 stars, otherwise for design and ease of use it would be a 5. I enquired about the composition and got a prompt reply: made of aluminum, in Colorado. UPDATE: it has been on the collar of my 150-lb mastiff for 15 months now and the tagabiner has not deteriorated. It keeps the tags on securely but I know I can change one tag or move the whole tagabiner to a different collar, easily. Contrary to other posters, I find there's plenty of room for 3+ tags. But I attach each tag to its little ring, or 8-shaped metal thing, whichever comes with it, and then attach that (ring or 8-shaped piece) to the tagabiner. I think that is how it is supposed to be used. People who try to attach the dog tag itself to the curved arms of the tagabiner will indeed have a problem, but there's no need to do that.
