Blown Speaker on 2 units - Manufacturing Defect?
First I want to clarify that I love my Sena Headset. This negative review is strictly for the (2) Sena SMH-A0302 Helmet Clamp Kit with Detachable Boom Microphone and Wired Microphone kits that I have purchased... Both my wife and I use the Sena Headsets for daily commutes as well as touring. The Sena Units that we ordered worked great out of the box. However I purchased a Schuberth helmet for winter and because of the sun visor control I needed to switch to the Detachable Mic style. The issue I had with this unit is the left speaker in the system sounded distorted. I was very disappointed but thought maybe, just maybe I had done something to cause it and just lived with it for the winter. Then in the summer I switched back to my HTC with the Stock Sena kit and it was nice to have the music without the blown speaker. With winter here again I decided I would spring for another detachable unit to replace the one in my winter helmet. Purchased that unit and was surprised to find that the new unit had the same exact issue. With my unit working fine with my wife's helmet and my summer helmet that only left the new kit. To fix the issue I resorted to self help and cut the right speaker out of my old unit and the left out of the new unit then replaced the bad speaker with the right speaker of the old kit. Now the kit works fine. So just a word of caution to make sure you listen for the left speaker to have a manufacturing defect on these SMH-A0302 Helmet Clamp Kit with Detachable Boom Microphone kits.

I love Sena, but this clamp kit broke after 3 months
My housemates and I all have SMH10s. Between the three of us, we have a huge pile of Sena accessories and gear. For a long time, I used the default boom mic and speakers that come with the SMH10. My housemates both use the A0304 clamp kit with earbuds ( Sena SMH-A0304 Helmet Clamp Kit for Earbuds with Attachable Boom Microphone and Wired Microphone ). I picked up this kit because I wanted to not have a boom mic, but I like having speakers rather than earbuds. All of our transmitters and other clamp kits have gone thousands and thousands of miles with basically no problems. After having this kit for 3 months though, the mic cable cut out yesterday. I verified that the mic itself is still fine -- I plugged it into a spare A0304 we had sitting around and it works fine. I plugged two other working mics (a boom mic and another button mic) into my A0302 though, and none of them transmitted anything. Because the actual connection that runs from the clamp to the mic attachment point is out, that means I have to replace the entire unit. I might just go back to having the stupid boom mic poking out the bottom of my helmet though.

Give me a common platform
Bottom line? This is a great mount for most of the SMH-series headsets. I own two SMH10 communicators and use them on two sets of helmets (road and ATV). This kit allows me to switch the comm modules between road and off-road helmets. Installation varies by helmet. Installation in my road helmets (Scorpion EXO-900) was a chore. I had to take the helmet completely apart and drill holes into the side pads for the speakers and route the wires. On the other hand, installation in my off-road helmets (AFX FX-21) was a breeze and only required unsnapping the lower part of the side pads and tucking in the wires, as there were holes for the speakers to fit into. The downside to these mounts - and this is Sena's issue - is that mounts are specific to a series. The SMH mounts aren't compatible with the 20/30 mounts, and the SF mounts aren't compatible with the SMH mounts, and so on. This means if you want to upgrade your communicator, you'll have to buy new mounts for all helmets - poor design by Sena for their own products. Sena should have made a common mounting platform across all of their communicator modules. Pros: - Allows swapping between helmets for your comm modules - A decent value when they go on sale for 29 bucks Cons: - Incompatible with other Sena series communicators

Good Headset
My Dad, Brother, Cousin and I all bought one each and use them together. They work great! I love the ease and functionality of the pairing. I've been using mine for about a year now and am still loving it. I ride almost everyday commuting to and from work. Sena did a very nice job because I've been through lots of rain this last winter and the headset has done great. Absolutely great battery life! Notes: It is truly line of sight between different headsets, they will definitely cut out around corners. Also I always ride with earplugs, to save from hearing damage,.... I wish the speakers could go louder. I did a test with my cousin and could understand him up to about 80MPH (loudest volume).

WIRED MIC EASILY SUSCEPTIBLE TO WIND NOISE , SIRI/PHONE CALLS OVER 10 MPH SUCK.
Gear: SMH10 on a BILTWELL LANESPLITTER Helmet, iPhone X Bluetooth Connection I got this originally for the wired mic since the set I had only had a boom mic. The wired mic does not work well for me compared to the boom mic I had. Phonecalls at more than 10 MPH people complained that it was too windy and can't hear me. ALSO, when I try to utilize SIRI, it doesn't recognize what I am trying to say until I slow down below 10 MPH, which doesnt help my situation at all. Will be returning since I still have my old set-up.

SMH10を他のヘルメットでも使い回したかったため購入しました。SMH10は結構前のインカムなので付属品はもう手に入らないだろうと諦めかけていたので大変助かりました。しかもリーズナブルに手に入れることができ大満足です。

I have added several of these kits to helmets over the years. They work well. I just fitted this to a Nolan 105. I had to cut a small rectangular aperture in the plastic trim of the helmet but then it clamped up well and ends up in a good position.
