Talking about visual coding through (badly done) visual coding.
For a book that's meant to provide guidance on the visual aspects of teaching, this is a very visually unwieldy piece of work. Lots of red ink (why?), unnecessary sketches of author and researcher heads, 250 pages of same-order-of-graphic-complexity information and I have no idea where or what to look at first on any one page. Found a typo within minutes. The font is too small. Paper is thin. Landscape format is not ideal. Dual coding is introduced stating it needs to be done 'properly' but this is then not addressed on subsequent pages. It's like a square kilometer of infographics cut up into A5 sheets and bound as a booklet. I (trained architect turned language teacher) really wanted something solid on dual coding and visuals but this book induces visual vertigo and I'm too dizzy to take in whatever rich information it might in fact contain.

A bit of a life changer, this one! 👍
A superb book for teachers and those designing for education - it has transformed how we prepare posters, booklets presentations, the works - thanks you Oli Cav!

Very necessary for today's education system
I have really enjoyed how easy it has been to engage with this educational literature especially when theres a lot of dense text out there. The book has definitely revolutionized some very archaic thinking that I didnt know I had and has forced me to look at my teaching practices carefully! Very easy read (especially if you like graphics/pictures)! Highly recommend.

Change your presentation for the better. . .
Order because it was cheaper as a three - opened the book and could not put it down! Definitely worth a read - especially if you’re not graphics/DT minded. Will make you realise how “busy” your power points are!!!

UNREADABLE DUE TO PRINT CHOICES MADE BY AUTHOR
after an online course on dual coding written by the author I decided to purchase the book. big mistake. whilst the content is, no doubt, very well researched and valuable. It is impossible for me to read due to the small size of print and much of it printed in red.

I'm still getting through it, but really useful stuff for anyone wanting to communicate information to other people - so yes that means everybody!

I have great vision, but the font, size, and layout of this book makes my eyes hurt. For a book about visual learning, I could not learn anything. It's getting sent back.
