Genuine wood at this price is difficult to beat! I have purchased a half dozen of these little tables and all arrived promptly, were well-packed (and accurately packaged!), and all assembled pieces were put together solidly. As the product description states, some assembly is needed, but this takes about ten minutes. Be sure to follow the instructions and look closely at the diagrams so you do not accidentally get the shelf mounted upside down. I recommend staining and/or painting BEFORE putting the table together. Several reviewers have commented about the aroma of the wood used to make these tables. As noted in the product description, the lumber is Lanceolata, or "Chinese Cedar", which is actually a type of cypress, so it is naturally weather and bug resistant like classic American cedar, but the scent is slightly sharper and more pungent - more like fir balsam (think pine cleaner). But once the lumber is stained, the pungent quality lessens. When stained and put together these little tables are very sturdy and quite nice in appearance - in other words, they'll also fill the bill as "end tables" in your living room, not just as outdoor furniture for your patio! Looking for a sturdy little table? Forget that big box store thing made from cheap-o particle board! These are REAL wood! An excellent value for a great little table.

I own two of these now. I ordered my first one, nervously, about three months ago. I wanted a good, durable, nice-looking table beside my couch. Something that people could knock over or sit on or move around and bang a bit and I wouldn't fret over the investment. And, man oh man, this was phenomenal and everything I wanted. The wood is beautiful. I didn't have any dings or notches, it came packed in bubblewrap and tightly. The assembly hardware is also super good quality. Strong, easy to assemble. It's a true bolt-hold piece of furniture and holds really tight. I would have no worry or fear of it wobbling for a long, long time. And, honestly, what more can you ask for? A solid table, good looking. I want two more, in truth and wish Northern Tool and Equipment made some other sizes (maybe a 2' tall version or a 3' wide one would be useful).

I've purchased two of these. The first was easy to put together with the cam-lock bolts. The table looks terrific in my bedroom beside my recliner. However, when I purchased a second one to use as an end table beside my bed, the assembly process wasn't nearly as easy: one of the cam-lock bolts simply won't lock in, so the table isn't as sturdy as the first one. If any pressure is put onto the table at all, it will lean to the side. I am lazy in the returns department so I didn't feel that the problem was so bad that it needed to be exchanged, and figured that if it gets any worse over time I will just be able to screw it in with a standard screw. Otherwise, the tables look terrific and hold what a table this size would be expected to hold: a full sized place mat (very cute if you put it on at an angle) coasters, drinks, candles, personal electronic devices such as cell phones and tablets. Holds a laptop easily. The cat likes to sit in the bottom and look out the window, too.

This was such an easy table to assemble. I did only give it a 3 star rating because the wood quality was poor on my shipment. The pieces I received had many small divets (which is normal to some degree), but did also come with some really huge indents in the wood. Be prepared to get a hand sander and do some prep work prior to staining or painting this product. Now that I completed painting it white it does match our adirondack chairs nicely on our front porch. For the price it's still a decent table!!!

I was able to assemble this myself and I'm quite pleased with the results. First of all, I love cedar. I love the scent of it and the look of it. It ages well and it's pretty easy to care for. I couldn't be happier with this table. It's a sizable table, not a dinky little thing, and it's thick and sturdy. The top slats fit together flush so things won't fall through and the bottom slats have spaces for air circulation. I think it's a very nice, simple, design. I would buy it again and recommend it to others.

This was very easy to stain and assemble. It is well built and comes mostly put together already. I purchased it along with two matching adirondack chairs and ottomans from Merry Garden. I pretreated with minwax wood conditioner, and then put one coat of mahogany flame Australian timber oil, before assembly. Now everything looks great and is very stable. UPDATE 4/1/16: The table survived through the winter just fine, mostly protected outside under a covered porch. They still look great.

Should be possible to give zero stars. Wood was splitting in several places, and that was before (attempted) assembly. Two of the cam locks were bust and couldn't be used. Had to hammer nails in to hold the legs in place, instead. Splinters everywhere, on the ends of the boards, especially. Obviously too much a pain in the arse to attempt a return.
