This book combines practical counseling techniques with a deep, biblical foundation, making it both a valuable tool for counselors and a source of inspiration for anyone seeking to integrate their faith with their understanding of mental and emotional well-being. The author does an excellent job of bridging the gap between psychological principles and Christian doctrine, offering a holistic approach that emphasizes healing, restoration, and growth through Christ. I especially appreciated how the book highlights the importance of empathy, listening, and prayer, all while offering clear, actionable steps that can be applied in real-life counseling situations. Thereโs a perfect balance between theory and practice, with rich Scripture references supporting each counseling concept. One of the standout features for me was the way the book acknowledges the complexities of human suffering while offering a message of hope grounded in the Gospel. It doesnโt shy away from difficult topics like trauma, depression, and relationship issues but approaches them with grace and a Christ-centered perspective. The authorโs compassion and deep understanding of both human nature and the transformative power of Godโs love shine through every chapter. Whether you're a professional counselor looking to integrate your faith into your practice or someone simply seeking personal growth, this book offers profound insights and practical tools. Itโs a refreshing and deeply moving read that will leave you encouraged and better equipped to help others (or yourself) through life's challenges with Christ as the ultimate source of healing. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to blend biblical wisdom with counseling principles for holistic, faith-filled care. Review: Great Book. Not overly religious - The book is a required text for a coaching program I am attending. I am a Roman Catholic but I am not overly religious. I know a few prayers but I do not attend church every Sunday. I cannot even say the Act of Contrition from memory. I do however attempt to live a life of faith. The book does a great job of explaining coaching, offering techniques and strategies and stories of experience. All while sprinkling in some reference and quotes from the bible. My point is even if you are not religious this is a great coaching book well worth the money. It's concentration is much more on the word coaching then it is on the word christian. You will absolutely benefit from it.

Complete, Thorough, Easy to Understand
I have received coach training through my state association and through independent reading and training and this book has been the most helpful in assisting me to transition from a more "informal" approach to coaching to beginning to take on "formal" coaching clients. I haven't had a paying client yet, but that's because I'm in ministry and I'm willing to "coach" many people as part of my position. I coach staff and other growing leaders within my organization. But I was stuck trying to move into more formal coaching relationships and this book helped me greatly to get over that sticking point.

The Truth about Christian Coaching
I knew about coaching from Life Leadership, from Unbound, and of course, from sports. Collins goes in depth with his work, though, in a way that opened up my mind even more to the potential of Christian coaching to make an impact upon the world. His call for young people to catch this vision, his foundation upon the Messiah's own coaching example, his honesty about the difficulties and rewards of the field - all of these aspects inspired me to take a real look at how coaching could help people across cultures and ages to achieve their God-given potential. I am excited to see this field grow and to be a part of it!
