This will start your day
I am addicted to coffee. This is good coffee. I grind most of my coffee from beans, and the smell and size of the beans always makes me happy. I grind a coarse strong coffee for the drip maker and it brews perfect. Also, I want to warn some people that this is a strong coffee. It will wake you up with boost of energy.

Better than Starbucks and a bigger bag.
Great coffee. We like it better than Starbucks French Roast which used to be our go to coffee. It’s also a larger bag so compare price per ounce.

Slightly burnt smell and taste.
My first bag. Dark? Yes. Bitter? No. But it did have a slightly burnt smell. Maybe it was a batch issue? I'll try again.

A beautiful cup of coffee!!!
The Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Dark Magic Whole Bean Coffee is a lovely, perfect balance coffee. Both bold & smooth it struck all the right cords for me. I think going with the whole was a good decision as you get that fresh from the espresso stand aroma & taste. I would highly recommend this to any coffee snob (me 🤗). I just found my new fav!!

Burnt taste and no aroma
Bag says "best by May 2026" which is 7 months from the purchase date. Beans had very little aroma that I would sum up as "old and slightly burnt" smell from over-roasting. There is a significant amount of crushed beans in the mix, so I'm not exaggerating when I say they're over-roasted. Ground to semi-fine grains for espresso they smelled burnt and unfortunately tasted just the same. For me these beans are unacceptable for a straight espresso shot. They're marginally better with milk and sugar but not recommended either way. I paid less than $10 on sale when I ordered it and I feel that it's not worth that much. Now it's $15... For reference, I compared these coffee beans to a much cheaper pre-ground "La Llave" from the local grocery store. I'm not a fan of the La Llave, yet it tasted better than a freshly ground Dark Magic. The marketing story printed on the bag would have you thinking that this is a small specialty coffee brand but looking closer you will be surprised to find "copyright Keurig 2023" on the back. Do your homework and buy from reputable roasters rather than large corporations. Lesson learned!
