It is possible that it was my HDMI cable, though I hooked up my laptop to the same cable and set up and had no issues. Maybe the adapter needs a particular quantity kinda HDMI cord, or maybe it was my phone trying to load DEX...not quite sure. I would still recommend this device, just be aware that issues can be had. The first impression of this item is that it is beautiful and solid, with good texture and feel. Secondly, in terms of application, the design of VGA, HDMI, card reader, PD charging port and USB3.0 interfaces can largely meet the daily use and constantly changing work requirements. Works great, but with HDMI issues
I tested all the ports on this device, with my Samsung S20 Ultra. The Sd card slots, Ethernet cable plug and USB ports all worked great! I did have issues with the HDMI working. Phone would go into dex mode then hdmi would lose signal even though it was still plugged in. It is possible that it was my HDMI cable, though I hooked up my laptop to the same cable and set up and had no issues. Maybe the adapter needs a particular quantity kinda HDMI cord, or maybe it was my phone trying to load DEX...not quite sure. I would still recommend this device, just be aware that issues can be had. Hope this helps, and if I have a update with a different cable I will update it here.

Worth it, with its compromises
[context: bought it for $30 on Prime Day 2019] At the price point at which I purchased this USB-C hub, the feature to price proposition was significantly greater than any of its limitations. It offers an assortment of all the ports you’ll most likely need: three USB-A 3.0 (3.2 Gen1) ports, an SD card reader, a gig Ethernet port, and a USB-C passthrough port. In my case, I have a third-gen iPad Pro, which only has one USB-C port, making this hub a necessary part off my setup.

OK...but
Everything works except HDMI which does not work on my Mac Book Pro and Acer laptop with or without power adapter connecting through the PD port. Also, there is no user manual, customer support or warranty info come with package. I returned this hub.

Great quality and value
Perfect for the new MacBook pros with USB-C/thunderbolt 3. Compact and very versatile, this is all most people need to connect to external devices - both as a hub (currently running a monitor, wired keyboard/mouse/drawing pad, external hard drive, ethernet and occasional cards at home desk, but with metal construction and light weight, a great travel option as well.

Great product. Very pleased
Great product. Exactly what was needed. The additional ports on this device has helped to eliminate the clutter of extension hubs for other devices. The SD card slot is especially good to have. Highly recommend this product. I actually purchased 3 one for home, one for office and one for travel!
