We bought a new Sony 55" TV that has no RCA audio outputs to go to our vintage Pioneer SX-780 stereo receiver from the late 70's. So, I needed to go from the TV digital audio output to analog RCA audio inputs on the stereo. After reading the reviews and product descriptions of a number of these devices I decided to go with this one. (While I didn't know if I needed it or not, the volume control helped to sway me to this one.) I received the device, and it looks just like the picture on Amazon, and included the optical cable and a USB power cable. I connected a small AC to USB power adapter I had from one of my old cell phones to the switched AC outlet on the back of my stereo and plugged the USB power cable into that, connected the optical cable from the TV to the input and a set of RCA cables I had from the output to my stereo, and it works great. The volume control on the device works, but with the volume control on the stereo I'm not sure I really need it at this point, so I set it in the middle. Sound quality seems just great to me, so I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

The quality on these appears to have come a long way. Worked fine out of the box. Great for getting music to your stereo receiver. I just unplug the power when using the sound bar.

I purchased a Samsung smart tv, which wasn't very smart. There is no headset jack. There is a optical jack so I used that but you cannot control the volume. This device does the job. Sound is not great but for the price this converter performs well and solves my problem. Price is very good and was delivered within a couple of days. Highly recommend to get sound in your headphone if not other option is available. Worth the money.

The PROZOR DAC converter is working very well with my Bose speaker and woofer system and Samsung TV.

Works well. I was able to connect the audio from my TV's digital output to this unit then connect to my old (but wonderful sounding) stereo. I have OTA local TV stations and a streaming device connected to my TV and everything sounds so much better coming through the stereo speakers. Since my stereo receiver does not have any HDMI inputs or outputs, this was a cost effective, simple, effective way to upgrade from TV speakers. I used an old USB phone charger to power the device. The volume dial is a nice touch.

I have a Tivo EDGE and it does optical audio output with Dolby or just PCM. But the output setting applies both to the optical output and to HDMI, so if turn off Dolby you are turning it off both for the optical and HDMI audio. I want to use an optical to Bluetooth adapter to work with headphones. I could not find one that accepts Dolby encoded optical input, so I tried this adapter. It works great, good quality components, converts the optical Dolby stream to analog stereo audio, but unfortunately, when I hooked the analog audio into the Bluetooth adapter's stereo input (using an RCA to mini plug cable) I wind up with a lot of power hum in the output to the headphones. Unclear what is causing it, but it's there and it's not there when I turn off the Dolby in the Tivo EDGE so it can drive the Bluetooth adapter. So, I'll keep looking for a Dolby optical input to stereo Bluetooth adapter, and maybe I'll find one, but I did not find the combination of discrete components a good solution.

When it works, it works well. However, as others have stated I have to unplug and re-plug the power to get it to wake up. I've tried both RAW and PCM audio from my TV with no difference. I've had the audio cut off while using it, so it's not a case of it going into a deep sleep while everything else is turned off. The TV I'm using only has the coax audio out so I don't know if it would actually behave using the optical audio option.

This is exactly what I needed to make my stereo sound base behave more sanely with 5.1+ channel audio streams from my Roku. Since neither my Roku, my television audio output, nor my speaker base can decode DTS or AC3 to stereo analog, I often struggled to get audio from DLNA-streamed movies to play on my non-home theater tv. I kludged downmixing solutions with Serviio and with Plex, but there are situations where software hacks aren't effective. Since installing this little decoder box though, all my movies and streams so far have played clear stereo audio through my speaker base, appropriately blending the center and subwoofer channels as needed, while still preserving the original 5.1 audio stream for my more sophisticated home theater. To get my HDHomeRun over-the-air broadcast TV audio to downmix to stereo in the HDHomeRun Roku channel, I had to tweak my Roku's audio settings to force Dolby Digital. The HDMI output setting had to be set to Dolby Digital, channels = 2, and audio out set to Auto (DD and DTS). That's the secret sauce. My gadget chain goes HDHomeRun --> wifi --> Roku --> HDMI --> Panasonic TV --> optical --> this DD / DTS decoder box --> RCA --> Pioneer speaker base. Before making this change, I'm pretty sure the audio signal stopped at the TV for DTS streams. I think DTS (the company) believes that every television everywhere ought to be attached to a licensed DTS-decoding AV receiver, and so their restrictive copy protection should be transparent to anyone playing their content honestly. Cue middle finger. Since HDCP complicates DTS audio over HDMI, it seems that forcing Dolby Digital is necessary for the audio stream to be passed onto my optical cable, then eventually my speakers. Anyway, I wish I'd found this little box years ago. I love it! And the best part is, I don't have to explain to my wife and daughter how to operate it. It's automatic.

Per ora direi ottimo. Piu' piccolo di quello che si immagina dalla foto e ottima cosa il volume, che permette di avere un volume bello alto in uscita, a differenza di altri dac che hanno un volume di uscita anemico. Vedremo poi se ci saranno problemi di durata.

Used to connect Panasonic HZ1000 OLED TV to an old Pioneer XV-dv131 5.1 audio system. This DAC clearly met the need and working fine. Audio quality is great, no need to buy a sound bar now.

Necesitaba un adaptador que tuviera señal digital RCA que es la única salida de audio que tiene mi reproductor Blue Ray y que soportara también sistema Dolby (no por ser un adaptador digital necesariamente lo incluye). Pude conectarlo a mi sistema de sonido y ahora disfruto la calidad de sonido de mis películas.

Comprado para conectar una TV LG sin salida de audio analógica (RCA) a un amplificador estéreo Sansui de hace más de 40 años, que no tiene otro tipo de entrada. La instalación ha sido conectar y listo, puesto que la tele tiene salida de audio automática a Dolby surround, ACC o PCM, según la fuente de entrada. En otros aparatos habrá que seleccionar el valor adecuado en la configuración del TV. Como fuente de alimentación empleé un cargador de un FireTV de 5w, que es suficiente y va perfecto. Los resultados han sido muy buenos. Con una fuente con sonido de buena calidad, -por ejemplo, Blade Runner 2049 de Netflix- para mi sorpresa la nitidez y definición espacial del sonido, con sólo 2 altavoces estéreo, es muy buena y yo diría que muy superior a la que obtengo en el mismo amplificador con mi lector de CD Cambridge Audio Azur 640. Vamos, para mí superan con creces lo esperado. La única pega es que es cierto que incluso con el control de volumen del conversor al máximo, la señal de salida es poco potente -es lógico, si consume menos de 5W- por lo que hay que compensarlo con el nivel de salida de la TV, si se puede, o subiendo el volumen del amplificador.
