Absolutely Amazing
I have recently decided to try out oil painting again. I gave it up when I had my son and we live in such a small apartment that I wasn't comfortable painting with turpentine and other harsh chemicals around my small infant. After 2 years I started missing painting desperately. I needed to find a way to paint without it being toxic for my young child. At first I tried using Lavender essential oil. I had read that back in the day lavender oil was the medium of choice and I can understand why. My paintings would smell absolutely amazing and blending with it was very easy, however it would take days to dry and it got expensive quick. I will keep the paintings I made with them because they are like portable air fresheners. I went on a mad search looking for the supplies I would need to start oil painting again. Most brush cleaners are incredibly toxic and if you aren't 2 it's very easy to avoid ingesting them. However I do have a young child who makes it a habit to try to kill himself at least once a day. I did a lot of research and finally found this! I'm not saying you should pour it in a glass and drink it and it won't be dangerous however by the off chance that my adventurous 2 year old pulls a chair to the cabinet, breaks the child lock, opens my painting containers, pulls this out, dumps it, and puts his fingers in his mouth I won't have to have a heart attack while I take him to the er. For anyone without a child they will probably see this as expensive and useless but I see that it is nontoxic and that's all I need to justify any price. Luckily the price isn't too bad either because this works wonderfully to clean my brushes! It doesn't have an incredibly offensive smell and it is delicate enough to use on my brushes. I spent quite a bit of money on my brushes so I wanted to find something that wouldn't damage them. All in all this is a great buy and as soon as I run out I will be buying more.

Turpenoid Natural
This is my favorite brush and palette cleaner. It is very effective, without the odor, so it is a good indoor choice. and seems to be gentle on all types of brushes. I haven't used it as a solvent for painting, yet.

Great nontoxic turpenoid with a pleasantly mild citrus smell that does not irritate my eyes as I work!
I use Martin/F. Weber natural turpenoid for colored pencil drawings. It work dissolves and moves around the pigment to fill in the tooth of the paper on which I'm drawing, creating a very smooth finish in my base layers, before I work on fine details. I find that it works better with paper that has a little bit of tooth, such as hot press watercolor paper. If the paper has too smooth of a surface, it may move the pencil more than desired. So, a little experimentation may be required. I have not yet used this turpenoid with other media, but I am sure it would work just as well as other, more irritating turps. I find the scent more pleasant than Gamsol and it is less irritating to my eyes and nose. I'd still recommend using it with proper ventilation, particularly if you are very sensitive to fumes, just to play it safe. But, overall, I don't have any concerns using this as a solvent in my small studio. It is both nontoxic and nonflammable, which, living in a very hot, humid environment at present, I greatly appreciate.

Good for Avoiding More Toxic Products
I like the lemony smell of this, and it works well for cleaning brushes, but it probably should not be used to dilute paint, especially not white paint. It allows me to work without turp or mineral spirits; although I use Chelsea Studio products for paint dilution, the natural turp is cheaper for cleaning the brushes.

It does have a odor
This cleaner is NOT odorless. It does have an odor which goes away when you remove the solution from the room. It cleans brushes well, but sometimes the brushes need a second dipping into a bit of the solution. It does not remove dried oil paint from brushes very well. Just make sure you clean the brush before the paint completely dries onto the bristles of the brush. Don't leave the brush in this solution for more than five minutes, or your brush bristles will probably begin to gradually fall out. I only use it as a brush cleaner and not a thinning solution because it interferes with the drying process of the oil paint...even preventing the paint from "ever" completely drying. It is non toxic which is what I like. How people can tolerate the smell of real turpentine...is beyond my understanding.

Great brush cleaner
I mostly use this product for cleaning my brushes, I paint with oils and don't like the fumes from regular turpentine, but this works really well as a cleaner, I let the brushes soak for a while, gently massage the bristles to loosen paint residue, and then rinse well with water. Afterwards I use a little pink soap or a soap made for brushes with lanolin and this keeps the brushes soft and also removes any residual turpenoid that may be present. (or you could use a little Dawn or mind soap) then reshape and let dry. This seems to make my brushes last for quite a while, even the inexpensive ones. I originally bought this because I had a sensitive pet, and was afraid the fumes from the turpentine would harm him. So glad I found it.

Love it!
Years ago, I had some toxic paint thinner and clear that had some terrible fumes someone gave me. I thought, this needs to change! So I sought something safer and found this. It's non-toxic, biodegradable, and doesn't have the powerful, harmful fumes other brands have. It also works extremely well to clean your brushes. I use oils which are fairly hard to clean. I have left my brushes out too long without cleaning them and they got dry and crusty. I soaked them in the turpenoid overnight and I was able to clean them the next day with no problems. Additionally, it's a good brush conditioner. I have known people to throw away their paint brushes after even mere months of use, but thanks to this stuff, I have been using the same brushes for years now and they are still in really good condition. The price on Amazon is also about half of where you might find it elsewhere. I highly recommend it.

Natural turpenoid is ideal for the home studio, in fact any studio without adequate ventilation. It cleans brushes and palette knives without toxic fumes, and is non poisonous environmentally. Recently I have taken to using non toxic media without powerful smells, for mixing oil paint and for cleaning brushes, therefore eliminating turpentine and white spirit and making oil painting as user friendly, almost, as watercolour.

I've been using this product for a while now. A great non toxic alternative to turps an potent thinners, works just as well, but without giving me a sore throat or a headache.
