– AirNav ADS-B 1090 MHz Outdoor antenna with SMA connector

Got this as built my own Raspberry PI, SDR station so I can tag some free tracking subscriptions from all over the place. Improved the range immensely, unfortunately I have a line of trees behind my house to the south so no matter how I install the antenna unless its on a 100ft pole I'm not going to get much in a southerly direction. However it did improve the other areas from around 45nm to around 170nm from where I am. It could be that its mounted outside as opposed to indoor where I had it before but still it works well. Picks up all ADS-B, but until the little green men catch on and fit an ADS-B Transponder in the flying saucers, sadly I will not pick them up yet...

Very nice antenna. I use this for Flightradar24 via a Raspberry Pi. Very easy to install, standard antenna mount. Used an adaptor I already had to mount vertically on the top of a window turret (about 25 feet up or so). I get lots of hits as I live just east of the Stansted CTR so get all the departures at around 3000 ft or so. Also get lots orbx hits from transatlantic traffic from Europe heading westbound. Furthest hit was 390 NM, an A320 at Manchester. Overall a solid piece of kit that works a lot better than the cantenna I was using before.

Ok, lets give this antenna a fair comparison. The kit I'm using is a Raspberry Pi4, running Bookworm and PiAware 10.1, both supported by FlightAware - no need to be a Linux geek here. Receiver is the FlightAware Plus (which has the filter in it), and the existing antenna is the YILIANDUO 5DBi 1090MHz Antenna SMA Male Plug Indoor ADS-B Aerial with Magnetic Base RG174, which is sitting on a first-floor window sill, facing East. Living in Kettering as I do, almost all the ADS signals I've been receiving to date have been within a 50-mile radius of me. I put this antenna (vertically) alongside the existing one and changed over the connectors. Within a few minutes, I was picking up signals from 60-70 miles away, and this now seems to have settled down to some 85% within the 100-mile radius, however, the remaining 15% fall within the 100-150 mile range, meaning I now cover most of England and Wales - I do regularly see signals from aircraft North of Anglesea, and track others right out into the North Sea. At this stage, the antenna is still only on the window sill All in all, definately a worthwhile investment. EDIT: Taken an alternative fixing method for the time being - I've used 4 aquarium heater suckers, with ty-wraps to secure the antenna to the outside of the window - I do very occasionaly recieve signals from the 200-250Nm range - looking forward to getting it mounted on the tv mast above the ridge line.

It's hard to beat. Measured on the NanoVNA this has a swf of around 1.07 Mounted at shed height this picks up signals beyond 200 miles. Incredible!

I first tried this product with is strapped to my windowsill and it managed to pull in signals easily. I can only imagine there will be an even greater range once fitted at a height on my mast.

I started using this one in an urban area with the Radarbox dongle and reached abut 200 NM. When I moved to the costal area the range increased to 447.8NM that is way over the 829KM!!! Where as the stated range i 400Km. Great product!

This aerial is mounted outside. The original aerial I could get 50-100 miles. With this aerial I am now regularly receiving signals over 150-200 and a few at 200-250 miles. I am impressed with the build quality and the fact it comes with several meters of cable and the right connector to fit my FlightAware pro stick plus.

Nice to look at, sturdy, well made etc. Only problem is that it dropped my range by about 30nm over a far cheaper one from the Pi Hut. Location and all other equipment was exactly the same - this was a like for like, in-place replacement. Only the antennae and cable was switched - this one has an integral cable, the Pi Hut one had a 10m (i.e. same length) cable so even that was as close as possible to the same. The charts clearly show which two days it was installed so unfortunately I had to return it.

deze ads-b antenne werkt perfect en is makkelijk aansluitbaar via de sma connector aan het einde van de kabel. aan de antenne zelf is de kabel fabrieksmatig vast gemaakt, zo kan die niet loskomen en ook niet roesten. top product!

Vengo de otra antena con resultados infinitamente peores. Mi ubicación no es la mejor, pero aún así tengo datos de cientos de kilómetros de distancia. Merece la pena la inversión.

I have 7 flightaware antennas and they works ver well. I bought one AirNav Antenna and after one month I saw same performance that flightaware antenna, with difference that cable length is 10 m (my flightaware system has 4,5 m length), then I can put my decoder and rpi inside my house, and is cheaper than flightaware system (AirNav antenna with cable $50; flightaware antenna and LR400 cable I spent $75)... I recommend this antenna!

Super antenne, je passe de 20 nm a 100 nm et encore je vais la mettre plus haut. Dommage que le paquet colissimo était ouvert.
