Will this pad fit properly on the newer thicker (larger diameter) barbells that have become common at many gyms?

It fits on an Olympic barbell, which is the thickest type of which I am aware.

4.25 in thickness? No, it will only fit a 2" thick bar.

How long would this last before it falls apart?

Mine has lasted about 6 years and counting. I work out 5-6 times A week and use it 2-3 times a week. Hope this helps…
