The Primal Blueprint: Reprogram Your Genes for Effortless Weight Loss, Vibrant Health, and Boundless Energy Review: Can't recommend it enough - This is a really great book to get excited and more knowledgeable about Primal/Paleo. It's a very easy to read book and I wish more people would read it. The book doesn't just say eat this not that but it explains why and for me that was the biggest push towards eating according to the Primal blueprint. It's one thing to say "I know this mocha isn't exactly good for me but it's not that bad." But when you understand more of the background information of why we need to avoid sugar, processed foods, unnecessary carbs and other things. For me that was what made this do able. I know egg McMuffins aren't good for me but I also know that they taste delicious but armed with all this knowledge on why we should be making these life changes (they really are life changes) the decisions between crap and real food disappear. I don't have to choose anymore because I treat all the crap as inedible. Makes things easy! Without the knowledge and a basic understanding of the science behind the choices, they choices were harder to make. I also love that this is a life style. Its about exercise, food and a whole host of other things. It's not a diet. This isn't something that you do for a month to lose weight. This is a life style choice that you'll need to stay with if you want to be healthy, get sick less, have more energy, be more fit and keep weight off effortlessly. Mark doesn't think that anyone can stick with it 100% of the time so it's nice to know that you need to build in a little flexibility in your life style. If you are really into pasta, bread and other carbs/gluten this style isn't an easy switch. It took me months to accept that I was going to have to let the unnecessary carbs go. I loved bagels and mac and cheese was a staple. Now that I am only consuming lots of healthy fats, fruits and veggies I do feel better. My coworkers always get in the mood for a nap at 2:30 and I am not sleepy at all. My entire office seems to have gotten either the cold or flu and I am healthy as normal. I am not trying to lose weight but I feel lighter, I have more energy and I do feel like I've gotten a little trimmer. It takes a while to change your view on food (from grocery shopping to cooking) but reading this book (And Deep Nutrition, and anything on Epigenetics) will provide you with the information you need to make the smart choices for yourself every day. If you are open and willing to change and want to be healthier in every aspect in your life I don't think you will regret reading this book. Review: A Must Read Book And A Gift of Good Health - I've always felt intuitively that eating low carb is the way to eat because whenever I ate any other way, I'd gain weight and feel sick, exhausted and unmotivated most of the time. When I met my husband seven years ago, I was in the best shape of my life, and I was eating "primally", but my husband said it was unhealthy and that I should be eating a grain based six meals a day, work out to the point of exhaustion on a daily basis, etc...etc. So, ultimately I gained weight, was starving all of the time, was exhausted, and was working out like crazy never seeing any results. Then the depression set it. So one day I just sat down at my computer and did some research. I came across Mark's Daily Apple and it just clarified everything I had already sensed was the right way of eating and living, and I haven't looked back since. And I can't say enough good things about the book either. The best part of all of this is that my husband is now on board and we both feel better than we've ever felt before. He was fed up because he was having terrible heartburn on a daily basis and instead of the doctor looking at his diet, he put him on a pill (which, since eating primally, he no longer needs!). I had a similar situation where I was getting terrible migraines (with aura) four times a week and instead of eliminating things from my diet, my neurologist gave me a pill that could ultimately kill me. Fortunately, I was able to figure out on my own that caffeine was causing my problems, but I'm still amazed that he never considered looking at my diet at all. I truly believe that what we eat is the root cause of so many of our illnesses and common ailments, and that grains are at the base of all of it. This book answers so many of the questions that I had about eating low-carb and it couldn't have been written at a better time for me. I'm back on track and am almost back to my "normal" weight. I'm relaxed, I feel strong, and feel healthy once again. I love how he talks about eating intuitively in his book as well because we've all become puppets who will seemingly do anything that other people tell us to do (especially those in the business of making money) despite the fact that it goes against our own common sense and is making us fat and sick. I'm looking forward to this getting out to all of those who are "stuck" in the conventional wisdom ways of thinking and am pushing everyone I know to pick up this book and give it a good look. In a few words, I can say that I wish I had all the knowledge that is presented in this book a number of years ago. The book is well organized, logically presented, filled with facts and figures and is based on available research. For those looking to not only reduce weight but also rev up their exercise program and enjoy life at the same time, I highly recommend this book. I have already lost close to 3kg and my exercise program is getting better and better with each passing week. The issues that Mark Sisson addresses affect everyone of us who is looking for better health and better life quality as opposed to the "conventional wisdom" as he puts it. The arguments that he presents does cause one to think and evaluate one's present life quality and life's issues regarding one's own body and health and our attitudes to food and exercise. Again highly recommended.

I would recommend this book to all that people who is tired of doing diets and exercise just to find out that they look the same as the beginning in a few months later. This is to achieve health for the rest of your life, so if you are interested in just losing weight for the summer that is coming in 2 months and look awesome at the beach, this is not a good book for you.
