CAPM Exam Prep, Fourth Edition

Thank you, Ms. Mulcahy and team for writing this excellent CAPM exam prep guide. I passed the exam on my first try and couldn't have done so without this book. It did indeed fill my gaps in knowledge because it gave context for project management concepts that the PMBOK Guide just doesn't have. To potential readers - follow Ms. Mulcahy's recommendations in the first chapter about how to study and use they guide, and you will be successful, too.

This books is a vast improvement on the PMBOK. It presents the same information in a more engaging and understandable way. It aims to help you actually see how these ideas would play out in a real work environment, rather than just memorize trivia for a test. Having taken the exam, I can assure you that this approach is far more helpful. I read the PMBOK, took the PMI's online course, and read Mulcahy's CAPM Exam Prep. I got pretty good at answering the practice quizzes. However, none of the practice questions appeared on the actual CAPM exam (at least, not worded the same way). It is imperative that you truly understand the concepts behind the practice tests. Mulcahy's book helps you do exactly that. A final word of advice: follow the book's instructions on how to use the book. Don't just plow through it. I greatly benefited from following the tips laid out in the introduction, and I expect you will, too. Good luck on the test!

This book was worth every penny. I was looking for something to bridge the gap between the PMBOK guide, and the CAPM exam itself, and this did exactly that. The CAPM exam tests a number of areas that just aren't covered in the PMI course, and this book helped me prepare for them. The tips and tricks throughout the book were very helpful, and made me feel like I was ready for whatever tricky questions the CAPM would throw at me. The one criticism I have is I think this book should probably cover the PMI Talent Triangle in greater detail, but short of that this was a great resource that I highly recommend to anyone about to take the CAPM exam.

Lots of good info in an easy to read and understand format. I would highly recommend this book for anyone studying for the CAPM exam. They lose a star, though, because someone thought it'd be a good idea to only allow a single color in the entire book (bad design) and chose yellow for that color (shocking stupid) making some of the figures nearly impossible to read (see images as examples). How that decision made it through review is just beyond me. Ignoring that glaring flaw, the rest of the book is great.

Great book that sums up process groups and ITTOs in a much more easy-to-read format than the PMBOK. I used this to study for about 3 weeks, along with Rita’s PM Fastrack Cloud practice exam, which I purchased online - I passed my CAPM exam on the first try and scored above target in all areas except one! Fair warning, though: the exam had a LOT of Agile questions and this book has hardly any discussion on Agile. Use a different source and make sure to read up on Agile before taking the exam.

This book saved me! The PMBOK is so awful to read and seems like a technical manual. Rita breaks the information down to where it’s easy to understood. The exercises in the book also help with retention and application of information. I did notice some typos through to book but not a deal breaker. I passed my CAPM on my first today today!

This book helped me pass the CAPM exam on my first attempt. I read this book and the PMBOK Guide to prep for the exam. I am new to the project management field but I understand the concepts in this book and like how Rita presents the material. I really enjoyed studying with this book and I'm very pleased with my exam results.

Used this book with occasional references to the PMBOK and passed the CAPM exam on the first try with flying colors. This book covers nearly everything you need to know but I do agree with on reviewer that additional coverage of agile should be included in the next revision as there were several questions on Agile on the exam...many more than I expected. You can't go wrong with this book.

The book itself is great, however the practice exams in the book have been filled in in PEN by the previous owner and are therefore useless. I purchased this book mainly for the practice exam.
