Lightweight, surprisingly capable daypack (with one tradeoff)
I’ve been using this Venture Pal 40L as a lightweight hiking and everyday adventure pack, and it’s been a solid performer for the price. It’s very light, packs down easily, and has more usable space than you’d expect. I’ve comfortably carried extra layers, water, snacks, and essentials without it feeling bulky. The shoulder straps are comfortable for short to medium hikes, casual walks, travel days, and general use. Zippers and stitching have held up well so far, and it’s great to keep in a car or suitcase as a “just in case” pack. That said, there is one important thing to know: it does not have a waist belt. Because of that, weight can shift to one side if you’re carrying heavier items (like a full water bottle). For longer hikes or heavier loads, you’ll notice this. For lighter, casual use, it’s totally fine. Overall, this is an excellent value pack for day hikes, travel, and everyday adventures. If you need a super lightweight, packable bag and don’t require a hip belt, this is a great choice.

Great pack
first off I would like to say but this is not a $100 backpack. I've seen some reviews that compared this to higher-priced backpacks. This is a $20 backpack good for a day hike or just to carry your stuff in. It will never match up to $100 Osprey backpack and if you think it will then you're very delusional. It is what it is and that is a packable or foldable if you'd rather backpack. Let's not compare bananas with tennis balls because they're never going to match up. As far as this backpack I really do like it. It consists of two large compartments, one is smaller than the other. It's perfect for someone who may want to just take some stuff to the gym or just go on a little day hike. I can carry a pair of shoes, a rain jacket, occasionally a hoodie, my wallet, my keys,my phone, my tablet 2 bottles of water, and snacks and still have room. It is very roomy and because it is lightweight it is easy to haul around. Now I don't do much travel so I cannot tell you if it fits on an airplane or under a seat but it's great for just taking off for a nice day walk or maybe grab a bunch of stuff and take it to work. It's a great bag for what it is. This is the second one I've owned as the first one just wore out after several years. I would not consider this a good bag for a computer as it is rather thin with no padding but it is great for just carrying what you might need for a Day hike. It would even be good to take to the beach. I would recommend this bag for anyone looking for a simple little backpack to carry around their stuff in. I even have one that I use for emergency stuff. Just remember it is not $100 backpack so don't expect it to be but if you just want something lightweight to carry stuff around this is an awesome little backpack. it may not be right for everyone's needs so look before you buy but I think you will like this pack.

This bag has no business being this good
A foldable lightweight backpack has no business being THIS well made THIS cheaply. I bought a second one I am so impressed. I travel a lot and love this because I can throw it easily into luggage and it becomes my bag for shopping, the gym, groceries and a spare bag if I buy too much. Let me tell you I have abused this bag. I have checked it, given it to luggage delivery companies, thrown it around on buses, boats and trains, I have stuffed it with way more mass and weight than is reasonable. I have done this brutal work on it for ober a year and even the top handle which is just a nylon strap which break almost instantly on any other bag shows ZERO sign of wear or abuse. No seams seem in danger of giving up despite totally unreasonable demands on it. I love the dry / wet separation and this thing always seems to be able to pass the “personal item” gauntlet airline companies do these days. Insanely, insanely good bag. I’m shocked.

Great Value For the Money
This bag is absolutely excellent for an everyday gym/workout carry or even for carrying overnight stuff as well as computer/iPad etc. I gave it 4 out of 5 because I think an interior zip pocket to separate and protect items like sunglasses or cell phones from getting intermixed with the rest of your items could end up for instance scratching your cell phone up or your sunglasses falling to the bottom of the bag and getting crushed and scuffed up. But again, for the price its an awesome bag, lightweight with plenty of room for stuff and it's comfortable to wear. The fact that it folds down into essentially what would be the space of a zip lock sandwich bag also makes it nice to pack into suitcase and then open and utilize while on the go at your destination. I will never not own one of these. They make too much sense. But if they would add a zipper to the upper interior on the first front facing section of the bag it would be even better. Also, a clip on the inside for securing your keys to make them easier to find and again less likely to scratch your other items within the bag would take it too 6 stars!

Five years and going strong!
After 5 years of hiking and travel this is holding strong! Lightweight and packable without all the bulky extras like most of the pricier brands. And better quality than the 35 L model, which reviewers show has that awful plastic coating inside that peels and flakes. (If you want absolute waterproofing get a poncho or pack cover.) This one has actual nylon lining on both the bottom and the front panel to help protect things. And waterproof plastic back pocket is great for storing valuables in heavy rain or isolating them from other contents. After 5 years of use my pack has only one tiny (mendable) tear on an interior pocket seam. Comfortable straps are padded but flexible & not bulky. Side pockets are deep enough to keep water bottles from falling out and the elastic is still good. Sturdy and smooth-operating zippers. I just wish they made a smaller version (under 30 L) for doggo walks. Can't find anything on Amazon that looks as sturdy and affordable. One of the best $25 I ever spent.
