## Description

Product Description HBO presents a new comedy series from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant (The Office, HBO’s Extras and The Ricky Gervais Show) and starring actor Warwick Davis (Willow, the Harry Potter and Star Wars films), who portrays a conceited, self-aggrandizing version of himself. In Life’s Too Short, Davis’ character is an actor desperately trying to jumpstart his waning career and maintain his status as Britain’s go-to little person. He runs a talent agency for fellow showbiz little people called “Dwarves for Hire” (though he often takes the best roles for himself); is the vice chairman of a society for small people (he’d rather be chairman); and seeks advice from old pals Gervais and Merchant (also playing versions of themselves) in hopes that their A-list celebrity connections will aid his career. Shot faux-documentary style, the seven Season 1 episodes of Life’s Too Short include cameos by Liam Neeson, Johnny Depp, Sting, Steve Carell, Helena Bonham Carter, Cat Deeley, and others. A cross between Gervais’ Extras and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Life’s Too Short hilariously charts Davis’ every move as he tries to maintain his pride and self-respect in a series of uncomfortable, often-humiliating situations. .com Fans of Ricky Gervais (British and American versions of The Office and of Extras) as well as fans of the great character actor Warwick Davis (the Harry Potter films) will find a lot to love in Life's Too Short. It's hilarious, crass, politically incorrect, and compulsively watchable. Davis plays a thinly disguised version of himself, an approaching-middle-age English actor who has made a big name for himself in little-person film and TV roles. The premise of Life's Too Short is that Davis's character--also named Warwick Davis--is now finding it hard to land roles. What does he have to do to get noticed or cast? Apparently there's no stunt he's not willing to pull, no level to which he's not willing to stoop. And if you think that lends itself to a lot of short jokes, you'd be right. Davis seems to be having a grand time in some truly cringe-worthy scenes (in one, he is discovered standing in a toilet by none other than Johnny Depp, who's seeming to channel his wastrel role as Captain Jack Sparrow. The other cameo appearances are delightful too, including Helena Bonham Carter, Sting, Steve Carell, and many more. If Gervais's patented "oh no he didn't just say that" brand of humor is your cup of tea, Life's Too Short for you to miss out on this hilarious series. --A.T. Hurley

Short in stature but huge in laughs

Anything involving Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant is comedy gold but the trie find here is obviously Warwick Davis. Usually hidden under layers of makeup or a full on costume, this series allows this incredibly gifted actor to truly shine playing an exaggerated version of himself. Who knew he was such a fantastic physical comedian??. Whether falling out of his way-too-high truck or from a bookcase he displays a natural ability to make us laugh hysterically while also empathizing with his daily plight as a dwarf. Guest stars like Liam Neeson and johnny depp also get a chance to stretch their legs a bit. And i have to mention Steve Brody as his accountant/lawyer who is completely inept at both and steals every scene. Enjoy this funny warm hearted comedy showcasing the wonderful Warwick Davis front and center

Funniest show in quite a while.

It's a shame that not too many of us American's appreciated this show. Let me start off by saying "Good going, Warwick!". Warwick has been one of my favorite actors since I saw him in Willow. When you see the body of work he's done (no pun intended), you'll see how versatile he is. From the sweet and caring Willow to the funny character he plays on this show to the Harry potter characters to the evil and vile Leprechaun, he can do ANYTHING. It's nice to see him get a gig where people see his face and see him talk about his life and films, even if it is all in jest. Give this show a chance, it's totally unique. The only thing better than getting these DVD's today is knowing the Willow Bluray will be out in less than a month!

Funny and awkward, but nothing I haven't seen before.

*by A***T on Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2013*

Part of what makes this show so amusing and funny is the fact that Warwick Davis is very egotistical, but extremely awkward and basically failing at life in this series. Asking for money, lying to people to make himself look good (and then they find out the truth), etc. As a huge follower of Ricky Gervais, this is basically almost any character Ricky Gervais has ever done. This is a mixture of David Brent and Andy Millman. That being said, I'm not bored of it, it's just that I can tell Ricky had involvement in this project, which is good. It's charming and I'm glad I purchased it.
