U-POL UPol WELD/AL WELD-2 353 g/12 Oz Zinc Rich Primer - Grey/green

For plug welded overlapping seams I apply two thin coats to both sides, let dry a half hour, fit the joint, scrape away the primer in the plug weld hole (I use a ground down drill bit of similar size), and then MIG weld with no splatter. I prefer the zinc vs copper version of this product. I find the copper version to produce more splatter and porous welds.

Bought this for plug welding sheetmetal, i had to scratch the paint to start the welder but otherwise it did what it was supposed to do.

It’s expensive, you know why ? Because it’s worth it. Good coverage, survives welding pretty good. I’ve used it on new exhaust pipes and it’s still rust free after years of being used.

Far, far better than 3M. Better than SEM. POR-15. It's the best stuff I have ever used. Just remember it's not really weld through, it more like weld next to primer. Clean the spot you intend to weld.

The upol copper with zinc weld through primer bonded and conducted better than this zinc rich primer.

By far the best weld-thru zinc primer I've ever tried. This stuff doesn't have the spatter or burn back issues like a couple of the other popular brands I've used.

Does what it says on the tin, decent quality finish.

Good value. Good coverage. Improves arc striking in my view. I’m using it on a car box section to reduce future corrosion. We shall see!
