Great way to save money
If you're trying to save money-- this is a great way to do it. The only way to spend less would be to only purchase the online access to Mastering A & P (as it comes with an online text book). I find reading off of my computer difficult though, so I prefer this unbound copy of the text book. Easy to separate out only the important pages for studying. So included in your purchase is a helpful gross anatomy handbook, the text book and online access. With the online access you will have a text book, several helpful tools for learning the material, online labs, an online lab manual, online quizzes and tests to help you better understand the material. Again, this was a great purchase, the only thing that would make it less expensive would be only purchasing the code directly from Mastering A&P (Currently $110).

Book Package came with everything that was needed
I have seen a few comments/questions regarding what is included with this textbook. I am hoping I can clear up some confusion. I just received the "Human Anatomy & Physiology, Books a la Carte Plus MasteringA&P with eText -- Access Card Package (9th Edition)". This package came with the Human Anatomy & Physiology textbook, A Brief Atlas of the Human Body, Interactive Physiology 10-System Suite (CD ROM), and the Student Access Code for Mastering A&P. If you need the whole package, this is the one to order. Also, it is important to note that the textbook comes 3-holed punched and you will have to put the pages in a 3-ringed binder. This book does not have a binding. I personally like this idea because if I know that we are going to be working on chapters 2 and 3 in class, then I only have to bring chapters 2 and 3 to class. I don't have to lug around the whole book. Also, it might be important to note that I ordered this book directly from Amazon and not from someone who is using Amazon to sell their book. If you order the hardcover book, you will only receive the textbook. The hardcover book (at the time of this review) does not come with the Atlas, CD ROM, or the Access Code. When you read reviews, make sure to look at the review carefully to see exactly which book/package is being reviewed. When you look at the reviews for "Human Anatomy & Physiology" it will show reviews from people who received the hardcover book, the kindle book, and the 3-holed punched book. These reviews are all mixed together. The review will tell you exactly which book/package is being reviewed. Personally I think this makes it very confusing but if you look carefully you will find the information you need. UPDATE as of 1/30/2013 I have just noticed that Amazon is now selling a loose leaf edition without the full package. When ordering make sure you order "Human Anatomy & Physiology, Books a la Carte Plus MasteringA&P with eText -- Access Card Package (9th Edition)" if you need the full package. If it doesn't list "Mastering A&P with eText - Access Card Package" in the title then you are not going to receive the full package. Also, it seems like Amazon is making it more difficult to actually find this full package. If you search for just "Human Anatomy & Physiology", this full package is not going to come up in the search. However, if you copy and paste the full title: "Human Anatomy & Physiology, Books a la Carte Plus MasteringA&P with eText -- Access Card Package (9th Edition)", you should be able to find the correct package. I hope you find what you need. Now that I have started my class that uses this book, I can now comment on using the Loose Leaf version vs a Hardcover book. Overall I do like that I can take a few chapters to class versus taking the whole book. Its much lighter and I enjoy that. The only bad thing I have found about having the loose leaf version is that you have to be more careful with the pages. The whole book is 3 holed punched and needs to be put in a 3 ring binder. When turning the pages, if you aren't careful, you can tear one or two of the holes on a page. It's usually nothing a little tape couldn't correct but if you are the kind of person who is rough on their books, turns pages aggressively, throws their books across the room, then you might want to invest in the hard cover book.

Nice Packaged Bundle
I took Anatomy and Physiology during the summer. This book was great for it. I especially like that it is hole punched and not bound. Like others, this allowed me to take only the chapters we were studying to class that day and not have to lug the whole book around; a very useful thing imo. The picture book that accompanied the text was detailed and had nice clear pictures. Along with the two texts was the interactive CD that supplements the text. Some of the animations they use in the slides are cheesy but helpful. At the end of the chapters there are short quizzes that you can use to test yourself. I haven't used the online material so I cannot comment on it. Since it is 3 hole punched you want to make sure you are careful with the pages as they can rip easy in a binder if you handle them rough. If your that type of person, you probably should buy the bound version of the text.

Good Deal
First, this book is huge! I got the loose leaf version and put it in a 2-inch binder; however, I think I will need a 3-inch if I want to keep it together as a whole without damaging pages as they're turned. I like the idea of taking out chapters for class, which I'm sure I'll end up doing. The pages are good quality textbook paper with a thin cardboard cover and back. The cardboard pages kind-of keep the body pages in place. My book came shrink wrapped but the cover was torn and had some damage - that was a little disappointing because I will be using this book for a long time (perhaps I will laminate them). There a lot of good pictures in this book, and I really like the layout. The chapters have color coded tabs printed on the edge of each page, which is nice. There is a 5 page index of word roots/prefixes/suffixes in the back, printed on cardstock, and the appendix section includes a metric chart & periodical table. I got this version because it saved me a lot of money and I'm a broke college student. I thought I'd be disappointed to not have the hardcover, but I'm not. I saved SO much money, and I'll be glad to not have to lug around an 8 pound book. I may have issues with the pages after some time, but it looks like it will hold up if I don't abuse it. The loose leaf package came with the access card (mastering A&P), a really nice 130 pg. atlas, and the Cd-Rom 10-system suite (its called "interactive physiology"). I'm giving it 4 stars because my cover arrived damaged - otherwise I'd give it a 5.

Great Quality
I ordered this book used; but it was very nice quality and it came on time. No pages were missing, and no writing through out the book. Definitely worth the buy.

Excellent textbook for Anatomy & Physiology
This was a required textbook for my college Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) 2-semester series. I have just completed the first semester and will soon be taking the 2nd semester one. I had the choice of buying a regular book from the college's bookstore or getting the Kindle version from Amazon. I opted for the Kindle version as the regular textbook is large and heavy. The textbook appears to be the de-facto standard text for most A&P courses around the country. The text seems to be well-written and pleasantly readable which is relatively unusual for textbooks in my opinion. The illustrations and images are very good. Having the Kindle version offers you the ability to adjust text size and to magnify the illustrations and images and magnifying them does not pixellate them until you've magnified them past a certain large size - a pleasant surprise to me. The book offered excellent images of the bones and muscles, allowing you to more easily identify the locations and positions of the various muscles and their relative depth. The search tool was of immense value to me to quickly find information. If you're taking A&P and your professor is using this textbook, rest assured that through using this book you will learn a lot of A&P.

without online code
Book was fine but as many know with this book there is a code you get so that you can signin online for various work, assignments, labs. The seller should let people CLEARLY know that the book does not come with this code. It should not be called a "new" book if this code isn't included. People who sell this book know about this and should be upfront with this information because it adds cost after the fact when you have to purchase a code to get onto their website for further studies that are required by the school you are attending. For this reason I was a litte disappointed. I did not find this out till after I had purchased the book and again it should clearly be a part of the description and not be called "new".

BIOL student (A & P): Northern VA area.
If any college students taking A & P are considering purchasing this package, I purchased and received complete package in less than 24hrs. This is a great deal because I am required to purchase the textbook along with the Mastering A & P program. My university offers the textbook and MAP (with e-book) as a package for $270. This Amazon package has everything I need, plus 2 additional learning tools, for only $150! I was afraid of not getting the textbook on time, so I did the Local Express Delivery for only $8. You don't need to do the $20, or whatever it is, one day shipping. Pick the Local Express Delivery! By the way, I ordered the loose leaf version because I like the idea of removing more advanced chapters/sections to cut down on weight. The loose leaf is the exact same version as the hardcover. Don't be afraid because it states "A la Carte" - just means the textbook is a loose leaf version. The loose leaf will have the white background and picture of a female soccer player. The textbook IS the 9TH EDITION, with a 2013 copyright. I have yet to register the MAP, but the program is unopened and in the same exact package as the one sold by the university bookstore. The Mastering A&P is in a black/white cardboard package and includes the e-book (Pearson eText). I hope this information was helpful. I am very happy that I saved over $100 with this purchase.

Excellent textbook, the access code is awesome cause it ...
Excellent textbook, the access code is awesome cause it helps me study, the dvd shows hard to understand processes and makes it easier to understand, and the book with the real live anatomy pictures puts it all into perspective. Also, the shipping was so fast !!

I like this book so much. It has been helpful for me during my pre medical studies and during the first year in medical school. It's clear and has a good in depth (no too deep) that were on the level needed at this stage. Highly recommended!
