Adesso NuScan 2100U - CCD 1D Barcode Scanner

The product seems really good and I think it's worth the price. it worked exactly as advertised for me, except when I plugged it into my Mac."No driver required" is true, but you do need to configure it as a keyboard in System Preferences which is missing from the instructions. They replied with a vague answer immediately, but it was so vague I had no idea what to do. It took me 12 more DAYS to get a reply from the company to resolve this issue, and the reply made me feel like I was dumb for not know it. They also closed a second ticket with no reply and closed the first one when they decided it was fixed.So just pray you don't have to contact their support department.

These barcode scanners are inexpensive and easy to use, but seem to take a bit longer to read high-quality barcodes than I would expect. Beware of the company's product page which claims RS-232 communication capability, which it does not have. Also, documentation (online and included) is very poor, and customer service is terrible -- it took 9 days for their helpdesk to respond initially and we're at day 12 or so (21 total) waiting on response number 2.If you want a scanner for simple keyboard emulation and using high-quality codes, this is a cheap alternative. For anything else including features listed on their site (or customer service of any kind), look elsewhere.

These tend to randomly go bad after a year or more. This would not be my first choice in a barcode scanner, but my work uses them so I buy them. They do work good until they croak. Good price here on Amazon compared to the in store price.

Bought 6 of these units and 2 failed shortly after 30 days. I will look for another brand when purchasing our scanners again

PLUG IT IN AND IT WORKS, WE'VE BEEN USING THESE FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND THEY LAST. WE USUALLY ON BUY THEM TO REPLACE A DIFFERENT BRAND, OR WHEN WE JUST NEED MORE OF THEM. EXCELLENT BUY FAST SERVICE.

Easy to use and accurate

My company bought a lot, for the warehouse use, it is convenient, precise and efficient.

I purchased this product to work with quickbooks. The scanner seemed to work fine, when scanning barcodes into MS Word or other 'test' programs. Unfortunately, the program was purchased to scan codes into the 'items' field of a quickbooks receipt. For this, the reader was horrible.The scanner would randomly loose characters; only scanning properly about 5% of the time. I called tech support at Adesso. It took many phone calls to reach a real person. When I finally did, he could/would not help. The only 'advice' was to contact quicken. As the scanner was simply 'inserting keystrokes' into quickbooks, the folks at quickbooks could not help either. Their application, while involved, was not the cause. Other people have used other scanners with quickbooks(premier edition) without issue.The scanner might work well in other environments, but if you have anything other than a trivial questions, don't count on getting help from tech support.After spending a day trying various scanner configuration options on my own, I have given up and will send it back. Fortunately, Amazon is great to do business with!
