This is helpful now that I have adjusted to using. The thickness led me to having to raise up the steering wheel and adjust my seat. It does not fit well in my car seat due to the raised outer edges of my seat. If I drove frequently I would think it might wear the seat upholstery. This would be perfect on a bench style truck seat! It will be used more after surgery. I do recommend to help get in and out of car.

This HEALTHSMART SWIVEL SEAT CUSHION (Black with Red Stripe, 12.5 Inches in Diameter) works fine as a swivel cushion for my little black folding stool; it does NOT work as a swivel cushion in the passenger-side bucket seat of my Honda Accord. Although it appears to fit the Accord’s bucket seat, it sinks down into the middle of the seat, and the flared sides of the seat prevent the cushion from swiveling. What does work in the Accord’s bucket seat is a larger 16-inch diameter Medline swivel cushion . (It is the light gray swivel seat shown in my photos.) The larger swivel cushion sits atop the flared sides of the bucket seat, and the cushion is able to swivel. The swivel cushion is extremely helpful to my disabled husband, when he gets in and out of the car. The 12.5” striped HealthSmart swivel seat is a “Vivi” brand swivel seat, made in China, and “manufactured for HealthSmart International”. It seems to be reasonably well made, and the cover is machine washable. Obviously the red-and-black swivel seat is NOT a good match for the ivory upholstery of my car, but that wouldn’t matter if the small cushion were able to swivel. In my experience, the plastic swivel portion of this type of cushion always wears out over time. The person’s weight causes the connection between the plastic swivel part and the cushion to break, or else the plastic swivel portion cracks. You can expect to have to replace any regularly-used swivel cushion from time to time.

Unlike many of the other people reviewing this swivel seat, I didn't buy this to help me into the car I bought this to help me with my kitchen/desk chair, which is a bit low and very hard on me when I try to get out of it. I found this swivel cushion to be a bit hard for a cushion, but it works perfectly in my kitchen chair. I can turn and reach things with ease, and get up without hurting my back or hips. On the other hand, cushion is a bit of a misnomer. It's a plastic swivel "lazy susan" covered with a bit of padding and velour-type fabric. Happily, the bottom has a grippy rubber surface, so I don't slide at all. That's likely the problem with the folks who bought this for their cars -- there's no slide-able surface on this, so sliding into the car won't work. So for the right application, this is the perfect solution. If you want it for your car, cushioned chair, recliner, etc., this isn't what you need. Too bad. The price is right and the swivel works perfectly.

I purchased two of these seat cushions for my parents. The one for my mom works find and she likes it. Unfortunately, the one for my dad did not work for him because of his weight and his height and it created more issues for him getting in and out of the car because it decreased his leg and head space. The bigger issue I have is that when I attempted to return this with the vendor HealthSmart, they would not accept a return and I did not see this when item was purchased. I was willing to make an exchange if necessary and I called the number provided and I got a recording telling me to go to a website for further assistance. Upon going to the web site, I got a message that the site was down due to maintenance, so I was unable to speak with anyone about the issue. So, I called Amazon directly and they processed a return for me without having to return the item. The item is useless to me because it does not work and maybe I can gift it to someone who is smaller in stature. I thank Amazon for making this right, but I warn anyone who is thinking about purchasing this swivel cushion, that the weight and height is the person using it be taken into consideration, as well as the amount of space they have around them, especially for the driver due the steering wheel. Try to find anything about the company's return policy and verify any information they list to see if in fact you will be able to reach anyone because if it were not for being purchased thru Amazon, I would have not gotten this resolved and would have had to take a loss. As a result of this even though the item works well for my mom, I will not be purchasing from HealthSmart again.

This item is cheaply made and does not work at all in our car! I honestly can't imagine it working in any other car either. It is supposedly still eligible for a return, yet Amazon won't let us return the item! Not happy! Negative star rating if it were a choice!

This swivel seat is wonderful and just what I needed to enter and exit my car with ease. I'm an excellent driver but have had lower body mobility issues that have made driving a challenge. Now I can sit on the swivel seat cushion and avoid the misery of adjusting my body by gently turning my body into the car and later out. Note: I'm not sure if this seat would work as easily for bodies of more than average weight. Perhaps they make this product in different sizes.

I bought this for my quadriplegic husband to help him transfer from his wheelchairs. It did not work for him. He said it was too thick and hard, so sitting on it most of the day caused him pain. It did not turn as easily as I expected when in use. I think for his needs, a less expensive thinner model might work better.

I used to direct a senior center and learned about these swiveling seat cushions from a lecturer. As a care giver, I purchased this cushion for my 94 year old mother who was having challenges getting in and out of the car. She has a bad back and was concerned that the cushion would be too hard. She was pleased to find it was comfortable. The size was perfect for the bucketed front seat of her car. We specifically ordered one with a vinyl cover the is waterproof, durable and easy to clean. The spinning design did exactly what it was supposed to and allowed mom to turn much easier to enter and exit her car. I expect this will help prevent possible injury and improve her quality of life. Highly recommended.

My husband finds this very handy to use at the kitchen nook...his right leg doesn't function well & use to be in a lot of pain...this cushion make sitting at the kitchen table much easier. The only problem is the granddaughters love to play with it...they think its fun to take into the playroom & swivel around and around.

This cushion is a first class product works every time . I BOUGHT this to replace a soft flexible one that jammed 8 times out of 10 , I have had both hips replaced so needed an easy way to get in and out of a car so as to assist healing and discomfort , this cushion does it all so easy on the ball bearings I recommend it to everyone even if you have back problems. The seller is first class delivery next day even an e-mail to tell you time of delivery. Spot on many thanks.......

This is an excellent swivel seat for a small person. I use on my office chair, I did try using this in my car but found it too small for my rear.
