RDS MFG INC Auxiliary Fuel Tank 37Gal - 71804

This product was easy to install. The only thing I did, was to make a couple of 11/2" steel straps with foam rubber underneath the straps, to isolate the tank from vibration .I did this because I didn't feel the hold down tabs were secure enough for rough roads. I also isolated the straps that I bolted down with rubber washers . Otherwise this tank is perfect for my needs. Shipping was prompt and tank was undamaged even though it was only held down by one thin strap to pallet. I would definitely recommend this product.

Tank arrived on a small pallet with one strap holding it down. Adequate but I expected more. Top side of tank was not covered or protected but it had no dents or dings and was very shiny. Fuel filler cap was broken into 2 pieces. It will have to be replaced. Since it was not packaged in any way that offered protection to the fuel inlet or cap I'm not surprised with the resulting damage. Fortunately the face of the fuel gauge was not damaged. The lense was unscratched and intact. Welds are minimized by using a bend brake to take one sheet and bending it 3 times to form a casing requiring welds on only one side and each end. Excellent technique Welds were smooth and very well done, professional. Light years above some of the welds I've seen on imported items The unit is NOT a 32 gallon tank. It holds a minimum of 37 gallons. Exterior dimensions are 50X9X20. That totals to 9,000 cubic inches. Since one US gallon is 231 cubic inches then 9,000 / 231 = 38.96 gallons. That figure has to be reduced somewhat because the interior measurements need to be used to determine the true capacity. Needless to say I was pleased to discover that I was getting an extra 5 gallons for free (almost). But if you're near your CGVW then the extra 5 gallons will add another 35+ pounds to your overall total when towing 5th wheels like I do. Last on my list, the mounting tabs were not properly aligned. They did not lay flat. By standing back a few feet it was obvious they were off level by several degrees. Not a problem functionally nor aestheticly as it won't be seen often but something I felt I should mention it. There are 2 feeds, a vent and a drain allowing you several methods to tie into your existing fuel system or create your own. All are on the drivers side to aid in checking for problems I would have given 5 stars but the broken filler cap took the edge off my enthusiasm.

Fit good in my ram 2016 2500 shortbed. I have a tonneau cover. I didnt use RDS gravity feed system- I ordered a Vent Line adapter from ATTA tank and used that with a pump to pump the diesel into my factory tank. The vent line adapter has a return hose connection and this RDS tank has a stand pipe and return port in addition to the tank vent. Worked perfectly. Ran a switch to under the park brake handle to keyed power---ran it off an add a fuse to the cigar lighter fuse in fusebox under hood. installed this to increase my range for traveling with a 33' travel trailer. I didn't drill any holes in my truck for the fuel lines/wiring-I ran through the ports already in the truck. Did drill holes to bolt to truck bed. I bolted the tank to a piece of plywood with mudflap on top and then bolted the plywood to the floor of bed. Mounted the pump in the bed next to the tank . I have a filter base I will install with a diesel fuel water sep that will be mounted under truck,

Purchaser beware! False advertisement from the seller. I ordered a 37 gallon tank. I received a 33 gallon tank. I needed the tank, so I kept it. Quality and installation went well. Installed in a 2018 F250.

This is a good low profile auxiliary tank to go under your toolbox. Had to raise my toolbox up cause it was a little deeper. Came with all the hardware. You do have to buy the installation kit separately with the hoses and fittings so you get the right size for your vehicle.

First off, the tank is only 32 gallons not 37. The box instructions say the installation hardware is included, it was not. The fuel gauge on the tank also does not work, overall not happy with this package.

Great tank made good solid no leaks no warping

I had this tank installed and everything was fine for a few weeks. The transfer tank fill cap (vented) started leaking diesel. Then the vent mechanism in the cap dropped out into the tank. I called rds and they told me to contact flow systems as they supplied the fuel cap. They sent non vented cap as they said the tank has its own venting. Well this one worked for 2 fill ups. The cap was not locked but I couldn’t open the cap. There would be little tension then it would just spin ( cap was not locked) For the last 2 weeks I’ve been trying to contact flow security but no one is returning my call. It’s been 2 months and I don’t have a working Transfer tank. Come on guys Support your product. Rds mentioned that my tank should have had a vent on the tank. This supplier I’m not rds removed the tank vent and replaced with a plug. Don’t by from this supplier
