Maeda-En Matcha - Culinary Quality, 1-Ounce

What i love about this matcha powder is that it has a beautiful green so that’s a good thing. This matcha is amazing because usually culinary grade matcha in other brands have a very dull and yellowish shade but this one is a perfect green. The taste is amazing i love it. The price is not even bad for culinary. Anyways i’d repurchase this over and over again!

This matcha is soo good i cant stop buying it! its such a nice blend & thats that perfect earthy green texture & color. its not sweetened but makes up for it through its consistent taste. i find this brand to be organically harvested & true to its product

used to be good value but since i found this in 2025 the price went for $8 or $9 to $11-$13 jump in few months and now, within a month and a half the price has risen by $3 from Jan 2026 to March 2026. now it is the same price as any other matcha both good and bad. its still good but not the same great price as before! Wish I bought multiple two packs when it was $18 for 2. It may be tariffs changing the price or greed from success, but im sad its basically going to be $20 very very soon. will try to find another better deal but this used to stand out in the market for price and quality. luckily even with price, you save some money making matcha at home then buying it at a cafe as often, but still a very crazy jump in price!!!

The Best Matcha on the market hands down. You can't beat the real energy and the taste let's you know you've never tasted this quality before.

My favorite matcha powder so far!

I really really like this matcha, it’s pretty smooth and it’s a really nice green, it tastes so good and yeah I could go on, but unfortunately I only got about 6-8 uses out of it before it ran out. It’s really good to just hold you over until you can get a bag of matcha or something but for someone who commonly drinks matcha, I don’t think I could recommend this product. However, if you’re just getting into match, or don’t drink it that often I would definitely recommend.

This was my second purchase of matcha on Amazon. The first brand i tried was Jade Leaf Organics 1 oz. in a pouch. I thought that the Jade Leaf brand smelled sort of fishy, like seaweed. It was also out of stock when i ran out, so I ordered this brand. Not only is Maeda-En less expesive on Prime (at time of writing this) but it tastes much better. I opened it and it smells like TEA, not like seaweed or fish. I made a cup of it with some warm cashew milk, agave, water and pumpkin pie spice (be sure to use an frother or special stir made for tea, a spoon wont break up lumps) and it tasted very good - much better than the other brand. I also like that it comes in a little can with a lid instead of a pouch. I am not sure if drinking it really helps with weight loss or energy, but i figure if its suppsed to equal 10 cups of regular green tea i will keep trying it for a while. I will keep ordering this brand instead as i feel it is much better tasting and the fact that it costs a little less is a bonus.

So i‘m a matcha beginner. Never yet bought anything very expensive, i‘ve tried three kinds so far: Kiss Me Organics ($6.25/oz), Maeda-En ($8.70/oz) and The Republic of Tea ($12/oz). They do differ and the most expensive is indeed the best of those three. Although the difference in taste/quality is not as obvious as price difference. The Republic of Tea has the brightest lime green colour and a the most distinct nice matcha smell of all three, but once you add hot water you cannot make any difference between Maeda En and The Republic of Tea. In fact, i find a cheaper Maeda En in a way "cleaner" in smell and taste. It‘s also the least bitter of all three. I could also tell why Kiss Me Organics is the cheapest. It has a good vibrant colour, but the powder doesn‘t have that fresh matcha smell and once the tea is made, the look and the smell make me think of a swamp rather than of tea. I still find the taste good though. So of all three, my choice would be Maeda-En for making tea and Kiss Me for cooking. On the photo: Kiss Me left, Maeda-En right.
