Wow what a find! Dirt cheap albeit highly visible "best new product" notes got my attention. I was looking for something simple and inexpensive to chop up fruits, vegetables, salads, etc. without the use of a food processor or some clunky hard to use hand tool/bowl setup. Boy did I find exactly what I was looking for. When I opened up the package, I was a little surprised, it is small. But small is good for me. It is also lightweight in design, not cheap, more like...you think it's fragile but it's not. My first trial was cut up apples and cinnamon. Five tugs on this yo-yo like handle/string assembly, and I had the best diced apples and cinnamon you could imagine. Next was a chopped salad. Iceberg lettuce, spinach, radishes, tomatoes, and just a little bit of dressing. 5-10 pulls, I had the BEST salad I've had in my life. Like tablouea (sic?) consistency but it was so rich with flavor and delicious. You go less pulls for more "chunk", more pulls for something truly diced up. I would say be very careful during the use and cleanup process. The top part can take a licking, I'm a big guy and I was yanking pretty good on that handle/string assembly, no problem. The base is very think plastic, and there is a pin in the middle of the base that is small and thin and could easily break off if you are too hard on the washing process. The double blade assembly is good and sharp, not crazy sharp but you should be careful placing/taking it out, it sits on that plastic base pin so if you break that pin off, you're hosed :) I found that things need to be cut up into chunks, but the Chopper does the rest. You can fill it all the way up, but don't compact or stuff it, things should be loosely fit in the bowl all the way up to the top for a good consistent chop (think washing machine :)). So far I am simply amazed at this little thing, can't wait for lunch time today for my next salad experiment. My only beef whatsoever? Don't both downloading their free recipe book, every recipe requires the use of this chopper AND a food processor, which is just silly. This Chopper can do so much, the company missed the boat, they need to put out another recipe book that uses just the Chopper, I sent them that message, hopefully they get it. Finally, you can't beat the price, I bought another one and just stuck it in storage in case this one breaks, the company folds or stops making them, etc., etc. If you need an inexpensive reliable chopper and don't want to go the manual hand tool/bowl or food processor route, this is the product for you.

EDIT: Just wanted to add, the Brieftons Food Chopper is still going strong and I've been using it almost every day. I still haven't washed it in the dishwasher, but it's dead easy to clean by hand, just be careful of the sharp blades! :) Today, I was adding brown sugar to a recipe and discovered a brick of sugar! I broke it up into small pieces and then chopped it with the Briefton...a few short pulls to get it started then quite a few long pulls to break up the small pieces and I ended up with a nice fine sugar with only a few pea sized pieces. Pea sized was fine. I washed and set the Briefton aside because I'll be using it later to chop some potatoes, carrots and cabbage to go into a Cottage Pie. Man, that's going to be good! The only thing I can say bad about the Brieftons Quick Pull Food Chopper is that you have to be very careful of the blades, as they are just as sharp as the company says they are. Yes, I nicked the tip of my index finger when I accidentally touched one of the blades...and I was trying to be careful at the time. The chopper has successfully chopped onions, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, lettuce, and cooked ground beef. Carrots and potatoes have a tendency to jam/stick, so you sometimes have to pull a chuck off a blade...watch out for those sharp blades!...but that's only on the first pull or two. The carrots, onions, lettuce and cabbage chopped down to 2 or 3 mm bits cleanly and with little or no liquid being drawn out, great for coleslaw and sandwich toppings, or just rough chopped. The ground beef, which had formed big clumps when I cooked it quickly and easily broken up into a medium, then fine mince. The beef was still hot, although well drained, so I didn't even have to let it cool. The potatoes were par-boiled and I wanted to mince them for hash browns, but not mash them, and that worked perfectly! I have found that I need to pull the cord more times than recommended, but maybe that's because I wanted the cabbage/carrots/etc. chopped down to smaller bits, even so, that's no problem. I removed the top and check the items every 2 or 3 pulls just to make sure I don't get too fine a chop at the beginning. Now, if I want a fine chop I only check every 5 or 6 pulls. I have only hand washed the Chopper, but that is quick and easy. I put a drop of dish soap into the container along with an inch or two of hot water and then pull the cord a few times to spin the water and soap around and then rinse and hand dry...careful of those blades! I wipe the inside of the top part with the pull cord with a damp cloth and then dry it as well. Now, I can put the Chopper away for the next usage or immediately use it for another chopping job. A mixer comes with the Chopper, but I haven't used it, so I can't comment on how well that works. I highly recommend this Chopper. I don't know how long it's going to last, as I've only had it a couple of weeks, but as long as I take reasonable care of it I expect it to last a very long time. Just be careful of those very sharp blades! :)

This is the best chopper to buy I love mine .

First I will say that I am deducting a star for the inaccurate description of this item because I believe when people look at reviews while deciding on a product, incorrect descriptions do matter. The description says "3 cup capacity". It's not even close. It fit one cup + 2 oz. I was very disappointed in that aspect of this purchase since I was going to buy one elsewhere that was $4 cheaper but was only 2 cups. I paid the extra to get a 3 cup one. So one star comes off for that. That being said, the chopper is a very nice chopper. And it works. It's pretty good quality and seems like it will last. Time will tell of course, but my out of the box feeling is that it will last. I just received the chopper less than an hour ago so I haven't used it much yet. But to give it a try, I chopped an apple and I chopped whole almonds. The apple was first cut into chunks about 1 1/2" long and 1" wide. The chopper chopped it into nice chunks with only about 4 or 5 slow pulls. For finer, smaller chunks, I gave it another 5 fast pulls and it worked great. It did not pulverize or smash the apples, it actually "chopped" them nicely. The almonds. I put about 8 whole almonds into the chopper WITH the apples still in the cup and I pulled the handle. At first it resisted because you really do have to start slow and easy, don't yank or pull hard until the blades turn freely. It only takes about one or two easy pulls to get it moving freely so that is not a problem. For the almonds to chop, I had to give it about 10 fast pulls. The almonds chopped just fine even though they were mixed in with the apple and the apple, believe it or not still didn't become smashed or pulverized so I was happy about that. And although I did this mainly to test the chopper ability to cut the two extremes in textures, it surprisingly provided a new healthy snack concoction of which I just finished eating with a dollop of whipped cream on top and a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg. I will probably purchase another one to use for things like onion and garlic because since it's plastic, I worry that it would be hard to get the onion and garlic smell out of it. Hopefully, the chopper will last a good long while. I hope this review was helpful.

My neighbor suggested this type of manual pull-chopper because I had surgeries on my hand and she knows I use a lot of fresh veggies/fruit. After researching several different pull-choppers, this 4-cup model seemed to be the best as to capacity, type of blade system (3 blades + food scrapers at top and bottom), rubber gasket at base for stability, and reasonable price. The chopper arrived very quickly and I am so glad I chose this one (neighbor bought hers from qvc at almost twice the price and no stabilizing gasket at base). It truly does chop with ease...made turkey salad after Thanksgiving and it chopped unpeeled celery chunks in a few seconds, and did a great job of chopping turkey meat into perfect consistency for the salad ... simply added a few sliced almonds & dried cranberries, plus a little lite mayo & lite sour cream...delicious. This quick pull chopper made the job so quick and easy especially since I have a partially disabled hand. Plus very easy cleanup (caution...blades are very sharp!) Also...Brieftons was quick with follow up emails offering their menu books that can be downloaded. Very nice addition to product! I highly recommend this product and am so happy that I found it!

There is nothing I dislike about this chopper. It chops everything beautifully. This is my second one. I cracked the first one, and reordered this one within a few days. The pull on top of the old one is good, and I've used it so many times that there's a little groove where the pull string rubs the lid when pulling it. (You'd have to see how it works to understand better.) But that's not a complaint. The fact is that even though my old one shows wear, it works perfectly! The things I really love about this chopper are, 1. It's manual--no electricity, and I get a little exercise out of it; 2. It chops very quickly and chops my vegetables very finely, if that's how I want them. I use this chopper all the time and I even take it with me on vacation. It wears well, and I will keep the old lid and the old blade in case I need them. This is an excellent product. No one paid me or gave me a discount or coupons, or anything for my honest review. This chopper really is my favorite kitchen appliance.

The initial appearance is deceptive. Simple design, mostly plastic, with the exception of the blades - as far as I could see. But.... It works just like it is described. The first thing I did was chopped onions. And, just like it is described, the more I pulled the handle the finer it chopped. The best part is the cleanup. A quick rinse for the lid - making sure not to submerge the lid in water (per instructions), and the rest easily rinses clean or goes into the dishwasher. One of the major issues I had with the plunger type manual chopper was the cleanup, food getting stuck in the blades, or working its way behind the blade. So far this chopper has shown none of the issues I've had with previous manual choppers. At this point I would recommend it without qualification. UPDATE: Unfortunately after many uses I have identified a number of issues: 1. The plastic connections between the blade assembly and the top section begins to strip, causing the blade assembly to become stuck to the lid. Given the sharp blades and the need to have the blade assembly in position before putting food to be chopped, not being able to get the assembly removed from the lid has now become dangerous. You can easily get cut trying to separate the two. Also, something else has become stripped inside the lid causing the spin mechanism to NOT spin when the handle is pulled. I am beyond my return period by policy, but I would like to let the manufacture know of my issues. 08/07/15 UPDATE: The vendor was quick to respond to my contact request. After some dialog concerning specifics, the vendor offered to send a replacement. Now this is exceptional since by Amazons return policy, I was outside the return window, so the vendor had no obligation to replace the chopper. I have yet to receive the replacement. When I do I'll use it and see how well it stands up to normal use, and then report back with another update.

Great at chopping. Great size. Easy to use. Don’t overload though or you’ll find some bits end up too small before other bits are touched. It’s a small learning curve re what works best. But very pleased.

Excellent product but the plastic cup is very fragile. It broke within two weeks.

Ideal for chopping small quantities that don't justify the use of a big food processor, and a good time-saver. So a couple of onions, for example. Even a single clove of garlic can be chopped. The very effective design, with a geared pull-cord to drive the blades, works better than you might think, and gives good control over chopping size. There's also a mixer/blender blade, which should work well for the smaller quantities the bowl holds - not tried it yet. Very easy to clean. Great value for money and much recommended.
