Double-sided Tape Heavy Duty

If you've used 3M VHB tape you know it works great. I've used it for everything from fish tank sumps to automobile spoilers and trim. This time it was to replace the knock-off double sided tape that came on my upper roof spoiler for my car. The key for this tape is to use it on non-porous material like glass, gloss auto paint (not household wall paint), metal etc. Make sure to prep the surface and do a final clean wipe and dry with alcohol before applying the tape. This stuff holds incredibly well if you do your part to prepare the surface. On my previous cars I've used it for trunk lip spoilers for over 10 years and it holds up to the weather and abuse. never failed or peels. Its my go to tape for such applications. Its not meant to be easy to remove. I bought the 0.4" width in this listing as there are 2 strips down my spoiler. one strip is .4" and the other is .5" I'm glad they sell many different sizes.

Item works, but the width makes it kind of week compared to wider tapes

While it may not be easy to remove the red backing, application is simple and this tape is incredibly effective. My only gripe would be that if you mess up, you done messed up because this stuff is worst than super glue. When i applied this stuff, i used it sparingly applying one, one inch piece per every 12 inches for led strip lights and once you press this stuff to the wall, it is on. I made one mistake when applying and ended up ripping a chunk of paint off the wall. With that said, don't mess up. Also to simplify removing the red backing, i used a very fine nose tweezers and had to yank the backing off to separate the two. Dont worry, the tape wont come off. Just know that removal of the red film is otherwise incredibly complicated but worth the added effort to ensure an amazing bond that can hold 2lbs per inch.

Very good for my application, will see how long it’ll hold up

I used these to install lightstrips underneath my kitchen cabinets, and they are holding well weeks later, so the adhesion is good. Though it doesn't feel like its going to adhere when you apply it. I gave it a 3 for removal, because while it is easy to pull off, it comes off similar to a 3M hanger, it stretches off, so once you place it thats it. You can't reposition, so don't give it a hard press on there until you're absolutely ready. I have the easy to use a 1 star because holy crap... I spent half of the project time just trying to peel the back (second side) adhesion sticker off. its not split down the middle like a lot of these type covers are, so its a PAIN! Cutting your piece at an angle helps some, but then you don't get a clean end seam on your lightstrip. All in all, I'd probably go with something else unless the price limits you to this. They do work, but you'll spend time getting them to do so.

Amazing stuff! Highly recommend for hard to stick areas. I bought it because I was sticking Mandela solar lights to the siding on my house and nothing else worked. The heat during the day would make them fall off. Now using this tape, they are solidly adhered to the house.
