Can catch "Brass" too!
Not Catching Butterflies...catching 9mm brass. Nice and wide, lightweight handle, very portable, great fit and the net seems fairly strong. Great Price Point

Great net for longer time of use.
Great net more sturdy than most - large net for easier catching

Great net, could be sturdier for serious use
We are Monarch Butterfly taggers and tag about 100 butterflies each Autumn. We have owned three of these nets. They are a nice size and the telescoping handle makes it nice to store when not in use and keep in our tagging bin for the car. They have a nice long tail and wide opening so you don't hurt your catch which is good but for a serious catcher they start to wear out after a season or two. The screw piece that holds the telescoping handle wears out, and on two the handles, which are glued on come off. This would be a good not for someone just getting into tagging or a child looking to catch and release.

Great for bats!!!
I bought this because we had another bat get in the house. My wife was the first to get to use it and caught the bat with no problem. Then I released it easily outside. With no problem or issues for the bat. Other than it's ego getting bruise and bring embarrassed because our little bat friend was caught so easy! Lol! We keep it buy outer back door now. Lol!

Lightweight but likely to break. Net cheaply made with relatively large holes.
I got this net for catching bees as part of the state bee atlas. I like that it is lightweight overall, which would be nice for using out in the field all day. The ring itself is configured in three pieces that bend at the joints, probably with the goal of making it easier to get the net on and off. I would prefer a solid ring like Bioequip nets. This ring is likely to break and indeed I had a similar one that broke in the field. I like being able to extend the handle, but to do so you have tighten/losen rings on the handle. I wish these were clamps which we would be faster, more secure, and less likely to losen while in use. Same with how the ring attaches to the handle - it is screwed on which makes possible to come lose during use. An improvement on this version over another model is the screw onto which you screw the handle onto is fixed in position. In another version it wasn't and it made it nearly impossible to really tighten. Now to the net. It is cheaply and poorly sewn, although the main net mesh itself seems sturdy. There is overhanging/extra fabric on all the seems, which means when the seems are on the inside, insects can get stuck/hide between the seem and the wall of the net. The length of the net is great - long enough to easily flip over the net ring to capture the insects. The mesh hole size is too large for my use. Many of the small bees I target could easily fit through the holes. If you are only targeting larger insects, it should be fine. Pros: lightweight, collapsible, good net length Cons: size of net holes, poor net sewing, probably easy to break (especially the net ring) if not careful.

Get the large size for flying bats. Medium 12" inch works though.
Had multiple bats enter a number of times recently, was always caught off guard, used a box etc. with mixed results and hours of scrambling and trying to isolate or even re-locate them. After purchasing, it was about 2 months before the next encounter, this time 2 bats. The smaller ring meant it was harder to catch on the fly and it kind of swatted it instead of a clean catch with it's acrobatics, however, it survived and with the net handle turned over, it contained it and was able to be moved outside, unfurled, and allowed to go free. The next was hung up, so it fell right in, thought it was dead inside the net though because it wasn't moving so tilted the net to close it and left it nearby since I didn't think it'd go free if it was dead, it was small, and I didn't know how many more might be around. It woke up, opened it's wings, and started moving, so the net was unfurled outside and again, it went free. The net took what sometimes had taken hours and turned it into 10 minutes, which is great. The larger size would have helped I think with bats. The net was disassembled and was a real pain to figure out how to stretch it on the hoop without ripping everything apart. I got it, but I'm not confident I could even do it again.

Big, tough, and lightweight!
My organization needed this for a stage performance involving an obsessive butterfly catcher. It was strong enough to withstand comical swinging, wacking, pulling, tugging, and was large enough to "catch" the head of an actor. Big, tough, and lightweight. Believe in Jesus, He loves you! Your wrongdoing keeps you from going to heaven. Jesus died on the cross to take away your record of wrongs. He came back to life, and those who believe in Jesus will rise to new life in heaven forever.

Fabric is s so rough not for butterflies and small insects.
The net is not the right fabric for butterflies and small insects, if i want to catch a butterfly the tul is so rough that it can damage it instantly and my specimen will be damaged from the fabric.
