Magswitch - 8110015 Table Featherboard Universal Model, Yellow

I was reluctant to buy this feather board switch because of it's price. While I could see the logic in it's design, I figured that I could easily get by with one of those orange plastic ones that fit into the miter slot or simply make my own. The problem with this is I found myself not using the cheaper miter slot versions for a few reasons: 1) The amount of torque you need in order to get the expanding miter bar on those cheap feather boards to securely tighten within the miter slot is outrageous and half the time it still wouldn't properly seat within the slot; 2) Adjusting the length after each cut then re-tightening was a pain, literally; 3) If the piece I was working with wasn't narrower than my miter slot to the fence then I couldn't use it at all; 4) If using a self made feather board, you have to clamp it to your work piece with each cut not making it very convenient. Because of these reasons, I found myself rarely, if ever, using feather boards. Not a safe way to work on your tools. The second I pulled this switch out and set it on my table, without ever making a cut, I fell in love with it. Not only can you use it on either side of the blade but because of this you can also use it on your other tools with a cast iron table such as the bandsaw and jointer with no miter slot required. I was concerned that when the switch is "off" that it still had a magnetic charge but this is not the case. I could not get anything to stick to the magnets while it was off. They obviously use rare earth magnets in these which makes them super strong and hold very firm to the table. Turning the magnets on is very simple and easy to do, no hard turning required and you can feel it lock into place; however, there is no loud "thud" from the magnets engaging the table. The only thing I can think of that could be improved on this would be to make the amount of turning less to engage/disengage the magnets. It takes about a half turn in order to engage/disengage the magnets but this is a small gripe and doesn't take away from it's performance. I have since ran a few boards of maple alongside this feather board and so far it has held my pieces firmly against the fence without budging. The plastic is stiff and heavy duty. Time will tell how long it will all last, or how it holds up to kickback, but this was worth the money. If you're "on the fence" with this purchase don't be. Instead be safe against the fence and get this feather board.

Magswitch - 8110015 Table Feather board Universal Model, Yellow is such a great safety accessory and functional tool to keep the wood tight to the table saw fence! The angled feather board design allows the wood to travel freely in the direction of the rotating table saw blade but resists the wood from dangerously kicking back to the user. The two magnet switches securely hold the feather board to the steel saw table and gives it the flexibility to be adjusted at a moment's notice just by turning the knobs on the magnet switches. I always use this magnetic feather board whenever I make any cuts on my table saw. It should be noted that this magnetic feather board, because of the magnets, will only work on steel table tops and not aluminum tabletops. The magnetic holding power of this feather board is so powerful, once engaged, I cannot move it with all of my strength pushing on it! I would not be without this magnetic feather board for safety and performance reasons!! The yellow plastic color provides great visibility when using the table saw. Excellent accessory!!!!!

This mag switch featherboad is fantastic. The magnets hold like crazy when switched on and release quickly when switched off. Quick to set up and quick to remove from your table saw or router table.

I didn’t want to spend so much on a feather board, but I dropped the hammer because it had mag locks and two sided functionality. I use this on both my table saw and band saw, and it works excellently on both. This also allows me to only have to have one feather board kicking around (which works on both sides), which is a great bonus for my tiny shop. For this reason, though expensive, I think for me it was a good value and I love to use it. MIT holds firmly, and does what a feather board should well.

I've been woodworking for 40+ years and always tried to be disciplined about using featherboards. But it's been hit or miss for me mainly because they can be a bit of a hassle. Not so with this item. It is an excellent product. I use it as a matter of routine on my table saw and it has greatly improved my work practices. It truly works as advertised and I just set it wherever, turn the knobs clockwise and that's it. It holds extremely well and you aren't going to just knock it off the table, that's for sure. I mean, if you really, really try, you can make it move; but if you can do that during normal use then pardon me for saying so, but you have other problems with your workshop practices :-D. One caveat: The description says that they ship two (2) for $39.99 (please refer to the photo below). I received only one. So I contacted them and got a $10 credit. I don't know if the problem is the description or what I received but Amazon did act on my request. I'd have given 5 stars otherwise.

This thing is magic. Twist the little knobs and it's locked onto my table saw top, twist them the other direction and its easy to remove. I was skeptical, growing up most magnets I saw or played with weren't that strong and generally were used on a refrigerator to hold a note which usually read something about needing to clean my room. If the note was too big, the magnet would slide down to the floor. How was this supposed to help hold securely my lumber when I ran it through my table saw? I didn't know, but with all the great reviews and the relatively inexpensive cost I figured I would give it a shot. Magic. That's how. When I lock it down, it does not slide or move at all. Yes,I'm a child at heart and played with it a bit trying to push and twist it.. gotta test it out right? But it worked like a charm holding my boards nice and snug as I ran them one after another through my saw helping me get precise and repeatable cuts! Then when I was done and needed to put it in a different location, twisted the knobs and it popped right off. I'm not sure 5 stars is enough to be honest! It's always so nice when a product doesn't just meet but exceeds expectations.

Este aparato es enormemente útil para usar en herramientas/máquina que tengan algún tipo de base de hierro. Los imanes con los que actua son increiblente fuertes; su diseño de peine reversible lo hace igualmente versatil. Un complemento para el taller, que aumenta las garantías de deguridad al permitir mantener las manos alejadas de la pieza en la que estamos trabajando. El envío ha sido muy rápido. This is great and really sturdy when the magnets engage. Note magnets, no good for anything other than cast iron or steel. Use this on my table saw more and more now just wish I bought two of them. I did shop around and found this at a good price.

Davvero un ottimo prodotto, io lo ho acquistato con un po' di titubanza, non pensavo che i magneti avessero una buona tenuta sul piano di lavoro in ghisa, e in più mi sembrava un po' costoso come articolo. Mi sono dovuto ricredere, ha una super tenuta. Oggetto consigliato facilita molto il lavoro sia alla sega da banco che sulla tupie, a patto chi i pani di lavoro siano in materiale ferroso (sull'alluminio non si attacca) in oltre è ottimo per evitare infortuni perché evita che il pezzo in lavorazione toni indietro colpendoti. davvero un ottimo prodotto.
