Review: Excellent Movie and 4K Release - I had never seen this film before, but the buzz on the Bluray.com forum got me excited so I bought it! The movie itself is so good, and surprisingly relevant to the state of our planet today. Enola played by Tina Majorino was the heart of the whole movie and for being so young she had a phenomenal performance. The 4K HDR picture quality was excellent. Detail was great most of the time with strands of hair visible and costume textures abounding. The set design really shined, with every rusty weld of the atoll shown with great detail. It really makes you appreciate the craftsmanship that went into every set and boat. Some of the optical effects and CGI shots were a little soft, which was to be expected. The final "battle" on the oil tanker, the hot balloon sequences, and the underwater journey sequence are notable instances of softness. The HDR color grade was excellent also, but nothing was oversaturated. The pallet overall was very natural, with the most eye-popping moments being explosions and the *spoilers* green landscape at the end. 4.5/5 The DTS:X surround mix blew all of my expectations. This isn't necessarily a super old film, but for 1995 I wasn't expecting my room to shake. Surrounds and heights were used almost constantly, and the precision of the effects was fairly good (I no nothing about sound mixing or the difficulty of re-mixing an old film into a new format, so it was as good as can be expected). The LFE was prodigious! It wasn't only used for explosions either (which were room rattling) but even the musical score was solid and grounded in LFE. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better mix. 5/5 Overall this is a phenomenal release from Universal and by far the best Waterworld has ever looked or sounded. I highly recommend you buy the 4K release. Excellent Movie and 4K Release

A réhabiliter !
Quel plaisir de revoir ce film injustement boudé lors de sa sortie il y a (déjà !) 20 ans. Le Blu-Ray est correct mais aurait gagné à avoir droit à une véritable restauration. Mais le spectacle reste très honnête. A revoir sans hésiter !
